Toyota Matrix and Pontiac Vibe would be another http://images.passionperformance.ca/...ix.jpg?640x400 The other company's that do it a lot are Acura and Honda. Nissan and Infinite of course. Even Jeep and Mercedes were sharing a lot |

Like others have said, basically look around and a lot of companies share vehicle designs to cut cost. One I remember is the Honda Pilot & Isuzu Rodeo. |

I think they are trying to focus on its own brands more and unify its line into a world contender. |
The other big one is Toyota taking BMW engines and BMW taking Toyota batteries
|
Seems like Toyota is all for collaboration though and why not! Saves them money

Basically, if BRZ/FRS is a flop, there will be no S16 or AP3. Quote:

I wouldn't put any stock in any of the rumors currently out there. And as much as I want a new Silvia, I won't buy the hype and won't believe it until I test drive it at a Nissan lot. |

still wouldn't trade the WRX for any other car right now. |

I just saw an FR-S with my girlfriend at a Target. I parked my Z next to it. The FR-S is surprisingly smaller in comparison. Had the gf check it out and she doesn't like the FR-S and thought it was a mini-lexus with rice front. I was questioning my opinions and was wondering why I felt the Z looked a lot better than the FR-S.
AT least the FR-S doesn't drive heavy like the Z =P  |
Side note - this weekend I have seen three different cars.
Man it's small but a cool little car! |
I've yet to see one on the road. I'd love to see one in person. You guys should've taken a pic of the Z right next to one for side by side comparison of car's size.

I'm in the Midwest so I probably won't see one until like Nov...lol

my local scion dealer had one in the showroom so i went and checked it out... it was a black manual car with the pioneer display.. listed for 27,200
i mean i like the car i like the front end i like the proportions and all that... the seats with the red accents are actually not bad and the interior wasnt as cheap as i had imagined(beside the casio looking clock) .. the steering wheel was actually nice and a a good thickness to it. gauges were just fine. i didnt like the clear tailights(maybe because it was on a black car) they reminded me of a celica way too much and this car didnt have a spoiler which i thought it badly needed... i sort of am considering a sub 30K car as a daily driver something i can enjoy and not have to worry about leaving it somewhere like i do now.... this or the BRZ are up there for me.. the only thing is 27K plus tax... man thats a hefty price for what the car is... i dunno.. if this thing was 24-25K out the door id probably jump all over it...but i know its redundant sticking point by now but knocking on the door of 30K for a 200hp scion has got me a bit gun shy. i will say though the car looked great and really had that purist feel to it i had hoped for. a used one of these for low 20's might be the sweet spot |
almost forgot i called up there first to make sure it was there and the lady was asking questions... i told her i had a 2012 Nissan GTR and was looking for a daily driver...she asked if i was looking to trade.... i was like
http://www.mememaker.net/static/imag...ates/14287.jpg they asked if i wanted to test drive it... i said sure but when i got there it was in the showroom and it had started to rain so i didnt want to be an *** and make them take it out and have to relcean it when i wasnt going to buy it.... might go drive it another day. i bet i havent touched a manual in 2-3 years hope i havent forgot lol |

Sooo....was that a maybe on the trade? :stirthepot: |

Pssst.. don't do it! ;) |
its weird the best way i describe the car for me is... it would be a great car to have for free lol... like if it was one of those cars hoisted above the slots in vegas and i won.... id love it keep it and not take the money equivalent...but actually paying real dollars for it...not sure i could when paying a bit more could get me a Z or even a lightly used NISMO which is so much more car....
i think this car for me is gonna be something i will admire from a distance and when a guy comes up to me with one at the gas station asking about my car i will be all up asking about his too....but brand new 27-28K.. just hard to justify... i mean popping the hood you see that low boxer and you really get what its going for its just not quite enough.. its almost there.... 50 more hp and some tweaks for the same price... you might be talking about something.... but as is so close but for right now cant do it |

I agree with your points MC, give it a year and prices will drop or you will be able to pickup a much cheaper used one.
No way would I pay the dealer premium just to be an early adopter but I would still want to pick one up |
I feel the same way, great little car but for that kind of money just not enough of... anything. I lol'd at the "good car for free" comment, I say if they priced it closer to a base civic then yea., even then a civic si will most likely mop the floor with you.

they are pretty sharp in person tho |
I hope they sell well, but I also hope they come down in price.

These BR-Z's are going to be awesome used sports cars as they will plumet in value when the novelty wears off. They are being propped up in introduction due to pent up demand. Similar to Porsche Boxsters that were selling for $50K new when they first came out and a few years down the road they were $15K
Once people realize they bought a car with an average 4 cylinder commuter motor they will realize the car is about as valuable as an old econo car. They are selling high enough numbers with all the hype that there will be plenty out there so supply verses demand will cream resale values. And Demographic buying these cars will hurt resales even more! Think Mitsubishi Eclipse! |
