I wonder why they just won't create another badge like Lexus, Infiniti, Acura, etc.

That's an interesting point. I know when all the stuff when GM was going down, they discussed how having various brands cost them a lot of money, maybe Hyunndai is avoiding that so they can keep lower overhead, which would be smart.

that is a good point... separate the budget cars from their high end series

that costs lots of money, probably a few 100 million $ over some years.

I do remember reading an article about why Toyota-->Lexus. It's essentially this, Toyota never had a reputation for building shoddy cars, whereas Hyundai did. Since Toyota already had a solid rep it was easy to transition to a upmarket brand. Hyundai f*cked up their rep by building rebadged Mitsubishis that were unreliable junk when they first started here in the U.S.

It's difficult to convince people of a new image especially after you had a bad rep.

Cost is the reason why hyundai hasn't created a luxury brand. Believe it or not but it cost a lot of money to set up new dealerships. Japanese cars were not seen as well made cars when they were first introduced in the states. That perception changed as the japanese made better cars. I would say the first hyundais were pretty crappy cars, but today they make pretty well designed and built cars. Check out the new 2011 Sonata.

$60K for a Hyundai....uhh, let's take it one step at a time.

But go Hyundai, the Genesis coupe is nice, but the 370 still trumps it.

:iagree::iagree:

I don't care if hands come out of the seat and give me a dual handy, I would never pay 60K+ for a damned Hyundai

bigaudiofanat 09-03-2009 11:44 AM

LMAO I sort of agree with you BUT on that note would you pay 62K for a Nissan? The one in question the GTR.

rreign 09-03-2009 11:46 AM

Yeah, not a damn hyundai though, lmao
