Almost correct. RX7. In 1979 I wanted an XKE but was content with an MGB. By 1981 I had my '78 280Z and had lost all illusion about British (until I got an XKE). The Miata did not appear for a few years and then they commanded a price above asking, like $16K. The 280Z was $7K.

or a lot less if the engine continued to blow up... That body style though...

I drove it, fell in love, and wanted to destroy it super-rally style on the mountainsides in Eastern Washington
.....then I saw an article for the 370Z a couple of weeks after we hit Bahgdad, and I became a NISSAN whore

I had three different 1G DSMs in my early 20s but never modded them more than intake/exhaust. I wouldn't mind finding one and modding it in the way I always wanted.
