V8 Shopping

O.k. gals/guys...it is time to start researching a new toy for myself. I will be trading the Z in for a some sort of V8 that works for me the first of the year. I'm looking at the 2014 Audi RS5 (heavy pig) and the 2014 BMW 2014. I'm looking at the two because I (1) want a V8 (2) need something with a bit more room (backseat). If I'm leaving out some contenders please throw them at me. No Caddy, Camaro, or Stang. Thanks. :happydance:

Honesty 08-10-2013 08:01 PM

The next M3 is supposedly dropping the V8, so are you looking at an M5? The RS5 and M5 are pretty tough to compare... Same with the M6. Very different cars.

However the next generation Stang is probably worth considering - going to be a huge redesign and it'll actually have an independent rear suspension. It's going to be high on my list.

Ztoon 08-10-2013 08:05 PM

How bout a 10.... worked for me.

Noooooo really? Heavens to mercatroid. No V8 for the M3, yowsers. The M5/6 is way out of my price range. The RS5 is definitely not a contender with the either. Wow...I have a lot of homework to do then...no I can't live with a Mustang. Just can't do it. :shakes head:

Jaguar F-Type V8 S. DO IT. lol!

DLSTR 08-11-2013 09:11 AM

Pre - owned Maserati Gran Sport or the Quattroporte Sedan. Both nice rides with a V8 and some style.
Anything with a V8 will be bigger/boatish/heavy.

Example - GranSport Coupe:Maserati : Gran Sport Base Coupe 2-Door in Maserati | eBay Motors

Example - Quattroporte: Maserati : Quattroporte Sport GT in Maserati | eBay Motors

XiP 08-11-2013 09:28 AM

Are you still considering an IS-F?

cv129 08-11-2013 09:39 AM

This may be included within the "no stang camaro caddy" list, but an interesting choice will be a used G8 GT, 26k for a very low mileage one, do heads can exhaust and you have a monster that has great amount of room inside.

This price range, you can keep the Z if you want, and have 2 different (both fun) personalities in your garage to suit your mood.

UNKNOWN_370 08-11-2013 10:46 AM

C63 AMG and add an aftermarket KW suspension andanti-sways

Cadillac CTS-V

2013 bmw m3 on clearance

Porsche Panamera GTS.

shadoquad 08-11-2013 11:56 AM

My vote is a used or 2013 m3 coupe, but go test driving.

I'm heavily biased to corvettes, but you want more room

THIS! Went and looked at the supercharged V8's today. The exhaust note sold me. That is going to be my next car in a couple of years. The rear is much more appealing than the V6's and sounds SOOOOOOOOO MUCH MOAR RAW. The sound is indescribable. To be heard in person. Seats have side lumbar support that inflates and hidden A/C vents that pop up. Also the carbon fiber options are awesome too!!!!

That new Jag is a seriously beautiful car.

Z-girl, what's your budget?

If you just want grunt/muscle, something like a new Mustang, Camaro, or Challenger is an option.

If you want refinement and grunt... that's getting pricey.

Why not get a blower for the Z? No need to go crazy -- I think even the more modestly priced kits add another 100 to the tire. That's plenty of power.

EDIT: Oh, you want a back seat?

One of the new gen pony cars with a decent suspension package sounds like the way to go then.

Drex 08-14-2013 07:53 PM

if looking for a 4 door v8, an option is the new chevy ss

Z-Girl 12 08-14-2013 09:27 PM

I want a coupe with a backseat...75k tax/tag/title and nothing used is my budget..nothing american.

loving the suggestions...some cars I didn't even think about.

Japanjay 08-14-2013 09:36 PM

Coupe and 4 seats with a 75k budget. GTR. /thread. You get one still in warranty too.

Voice59 08-14-2013 11:57 PM

2014 stingray...oh wait. no backseat...nvm.

What about a C63 AMG?

(Coupé version here)

Edit: I see Unknown mentioned this already, but I provided links. I'm better. :stirthepot:

Z-Girl 12 08-20-2013 06:08 PM

ok so after reading more, I may be happy with the V6 BMW M4. it seems to be promising. The c63 styling just isn't getting it for me.

you might also consider the Infiniti M56 then :) but then again you're looking for a coupe :(

thanks z ealot. I did test drive it just for feel. nice but a bit too big. it just confirmed that I want a coupe but with a backseat:p

RoshDawg 08-21-2013 12:01 AM

C63 or M4 (even though it won't be a v8). You really can't go wrong with those. Gray c63 with black rims is pretty sexy and sounds awesome! Especially if you buy a black series hood with those two vents.

About 10 grand to much to start and not V8 but has backseat.... Porsche 911.

The new Cayman is in the budget and bad *** too, but no V8 or backseat.

I guess non american, V8 and backseat is hard to find now days.

I would say the RS5. I am considering an RS7 next summer, so you could look at that too. However, it starts at like $105k, so a bit higher than you want to spend. But 560 hp, looks gorgeous, and has more room than any of your other options. It's not a two-door, but it looks better than any two-door coupe I can think of.

DCNISMO 10-24-2013 07:26 AM

All Audi motors that use DI have carbon buildup problems, and so do lots of BMW and Mercedes. Be wary of any DI motor, except Lexus which uses manifold injectors at start-up to squirt some gas on the valves to keep it from happening. Plus Audi won't cover that under warranty. I bought my V instead of the S5 or RS5 because of that, and I can spank them stock....with 2K in mods...I can spank just about anything on the road. And I have a nice backseat that adults can sit in.

Firebase99 10-28-2013 10:18 AM

Im on board with the RS5, car is secs....

Z-Girl 12 11-07-2013 08:47 PM

Out of my box, but thoughts on the Porsche Panamera? Gently used of course, defintiely not new.

It's a fantastic vehicle if you don't have to look at it. :rofl2:

If Porsche would ever bring back a 928 with the TT v8 and AWD out of the top of the line Panamera, I'd sell my house for one and live in it.
