G37S GTM Stage 2 Twin Turbo Build by Project X

I do not post on here often but I thought this would be worth sharing with the community. I have put quite of bit of work into the car aesthetically already and a few other supporting mods for this build but here is my baby before surgery:

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/...1/P1130677.jpg

It has finally come time to boost my G! I have gone back and forth over the forced induction options over the years as I made sure I was bored enough of the stock performance and finally came to the decision that twins were the right choice for me over a supercharger setup or any other, and that GTM's stage 2 would be the system of choice.

This build is currently in progress and the hope is to have this done by the this Saturday but there is more than a small chance that this may run a bit longer.

Project X was the only place I would even consider for this job. They honestly treat each build like it is thier own car and are honestly just a great group of guys to be around as I have got to know them over the years. You may know them from Jay's gorgeous white nismo 370Z putting out 600 whp recently dyno'ed...

Back to the build:
-GTM stage 2 twin turbo kit on my 6mt G
-Setrab 19 row oil cooler
-Spec twin disk Clutch/flywheel
-CSC upgrade
-CSF radiator upgrade
-Art Test Pipes
-HKS Camp 2 digital monitoring

On to the pics:

Did that shop not have a lift because it would have been a lot easier to drop the motor from the bottom. I did mine in my garage with jack stands and it was a real PITA.. Sharp looking G37...

SPOHN 04-30-2013 02:48 PM

Great start.

It's mostly all custom body work.

I remember seeing this yesterday at the G37 forum, looking sweet

elperuano 04-30-2013 04:57 PM

Great lookin G! I'm running same kit on my g37.

I had to switch up my stance and raise the rears to get some kind of traction. U seem slammed there or the custom body kit gives that appearance. What r u gonna do for traction?

Nice looking G good luck on the build:tup:

I have to ask why do so many people that go FI and even the ones that don't get these small oil coolers? You think you would worry about how to warm the oil from being under cooled rather than having a small cooler that is not going to work?

Looking good Jared

This has grabbed my attention... Please elaborate.

I think for the 'average' boosted VQ it is just street driven so the ability to warm the oil temp faster is better as with a 25 row cooler is enough to keep you below 220 daily with some occasionally heavy foot driving.

Haha, yeah... I got that question over on the G37 forum as well... it have a couple of lifts but I did not capture the car while it was on it... the pics with the motor coming out are actually on a lift, just not all inclusive pictures I guess.

Damnit Larry for still getting more attention than me on my build thread (kidding, I added pics with that car in it for a reason)... yeah, that Z33 is on bad machine! They are making custom over fenders and they are going to be gorgeous and most likely for sale once they are done. It is the shop car and the owner who is doing this custom work recently broke his foot unfortunately so it as been delayed... I will keep you guys updated on it though as well!

I am on a full UAS air ride system over my KW-V3 coils so I will be able to adjust the stance for function for sure... I just need to get some more meat on the bones of those wheels now!

I have no intention of tracking this car any time soon so I am hoping this oil cooler will be enough for this setup... I honestly barely even drive this car but I do understand what you mean... the problem is that there is very little room for a large oil cooler with most F/I kits so most people build to their need and I am hoping that this is the extent of my need for now. In a couple seasons when I am ready to let go of this being a show car and start running some track days, I will re-consider this setup for sure.

^ this... thank you for helping elaborate. It is always better to be safe than sorry with F/I builds but again, application needs to be considered. I should have built out my motor and could have gone with a much larger radiator and oil cooler... I am jsut going off of what has been done already and it is my hope that I do not need this at this stage of my build.

 definitely hope so. I try to attend most events. Not sure I can make the UTI torque meet. I'm thinking of doing Another Level though.

:( ... Just got off the phone with the shop... my car wont be there either... I told them it is more important that they take their time and do it right though... said they will send some more update pics... I will update the thread when I get them.

I will still be at the meet though as I am helping out at it.

bummer on car not being ready, but you're right with them making sure it's done right.

Hopefully it doesn't rain. I think i saw 50% chance.

Noice!

Liquid_G 05-02-2013 08:54 AM

Nice man! Can't wait to see this done! And don't worry about being ready for meets.. There's plenty more left this year.

Time for updates:

So, as expected, there have been a few setbacks but mostly just waiting on a few small parts from GTM. Missed the Dyno appt last Thursday they had scheduled but they said they should have her started and running by tomorrow and they are set with a new appt on the dyno for this Thursday. Hopefully they can get a video of it, I will share that when received!

Here are the lastest pics I have received:

So much fun to drive! Definitely a whole new beast!

482 WHP

On a high 90 degree day with horrible humidity. With corrections or on a good day it should be right around 500 to the wheels. I am waiting on the sheet still but will also go back on a better day.

This was at 9 PSI as well. (running the HKS EVC-S with a setting at 7 and 9)

Here is a better quality (not my iPhone like above) pic that someone took at the show:
