considering trading my Nismo for this 5.0
Used Ford Mustang GT Premium 2012 in Atlanta, GA
My car is an 09 with 20k miles. I went to this dealership a few months ago when I had 17k miles, they "unofficially" estimated they could give me 25.5k for it. If they can still give me that much, I'm considering trading in if I can get them down on the price to get me close to an even trade. I'm on the fence. Convince me why or why I shouldn't give it a try. :stirthepot: |
1) It's a ford.
2) you have nismo |
Have you test driven it yet?
It's a great car, but very different feel than the nismo. I'd get behind the wheel and see what you think. http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3...101/179828.jpg I personally would not get one without the brembo package though. |
Nismo = Base + suspension, exhaust, rims, body-kit, and tune. I say get the 5.0 if you like it, or keep the Nismo if you like it, it's not a rare car or anything super special either way.

The only way I was able to trade my 370z for a Mustang was to get the 13' GT500. And even then that bitch was sold before the salt hit the roads. Mustangs are great and fast but no staying power. The trait in your body that drew you to the 370z isn't something that fades. You will always look back and want something similar.
|
I went for the 2013 camaro 2SS. My old 2010 370z Nismo looks better but it doesn't have a lot of things that the 2SS has such as home link, navigation, a good stereo system, two rear seats. Plus the ride on the Nismo is too harsh for the roads where I live. I heard our roads are among the worst in the nation.
|
All kinds of different strokes for different folks. Drive it and see what YOU feel. Who gives a **** what we have to say?

Can I ask why you want the change? if you dont mind losing the sexy lines of the Z for a power bump and on par handling from what I heard (even though I still think its hype) then go for it... however personally as iceagetlc said I could never even consider it unless it was for a GT500
|
Yeah, if it was a GT500, id be all over that. But since it isn't, it would be (IMO) a downgrade. Like going from a nismo to a regular Z. Or in your case, from a nismo to a regular mustang.
But hey, Whatever make you happy! :) they told me id regret a 2 seater and till this day ive proved them all wrong :D Your going to drive it, not us, so take the stang for a test drive and get a good feel for it. GoodLuck with your decision! (Ps, if i had a nismo id Never sell it :D lol) |
take a ride around your area and just see how many mustangs are on the road around here every other car seems to be a mustang.in the end its still your choice.
|
As someone that made the jump from a Z to a 5.0, if you like it, do it. It's a very formidable performance car. Certainly not a downgrade, though some people here seem to think a Nissan is a status symbol. ;)
|
I do have a mustang. I would not choose it over the Z, if I couldn't have both.
|
Yeah it's really just the power that's making me want to do it. I drove one with the 3.73 gears and loved the power. But I think after I got used to the power I would start to miss the Z.
Plus the mustang value depreciates so much faster than my car, as you can see by the price of the one I linked lol. |
Maybe add a 4.08's and see if it gives you the warm fuzzy feeling?

I would test drive it and decide for yourself I would wait for a Boss 302 instead if you really want the stang or like Red said, get one with Brembos |

That mustang would probably cost under $32K new. |
Good car, as any member of "Team America!" will tell you. If only it didn't look like a mustang. Maybe 2015 will change things.
|
I traded mine for a 5.0 and have never looked back, and to be honest, dont miss my Z one bit, the power/torque was just TOO DAMN HIGH. Seriously, do it.

I would take the $5,000 they lop off what it's really worth and just push for FI.
|
IMO
1. U have a Nismo. 2. It's a Ford. 3. Plain Jane everyone has one...boring. Even GT 5's are everywhere. 4. Do whatever the f**k you want...u r driving it. |
I would trade a Nismo in for the GT500 but I don't know about trading for the 5.0. It's a good car though, not denying that.
|
As several others have said, test drive it and see if you like it better. Both cars are pretty expensive to own. They're both big heaps of fun to drive. Mustangs are super common, Z's less so, but that's only if that matters to you. I've driven the GT. Very nearly bought one, too, but I wasn't looking to trade the Z in for it. It's a lot of performance for the buck.

1LE changes everything. |

I received an offer from GM for $3,000 off for any 2013 car on the dealer's lot. The dealer gave me another $500 off, ($3,500 off total), so I got this car here. I must say the 370z nismo felt faster than the 2SS but the 2SS is without a doubt a lot more comfortable. As you guys know, a 370z nismo has nothing, only the agressive looking body kit. 2SS even has voice activated command. http://i48.tinypic.com/2eyf2ax.jpg http://i48.tinypic.com/jr6wsn.jpg |
I like the new rims they have. CG's on the ride. 1LE is hard to argue against though, only if what it brings to the table is what you were after. And someone get some Raid and spray that Beetle!
|
My rental here in FL is a top trim v6 Camaro convertible. Notbad.jpg.

The Beetle will be gone soon. I ordered this car in early January and the dealer said it would take at least 16 weeks for it to get here   http://i46.tinypic.com/6sgf87.jpg |

People say the insurance premium on the WRX is pretty high. the insurance on the Beetle is lower than my 370z nismo's insurance rate at 2,000 miles a year cap. At the time when I got the Beetle, it was meant to serve as a daily driver and because there's no space in the garage (and the car had to be parked outside), I figured a Beetle would be good because nobody would do anything to it (Turns out to be true, so far). Now there's space in the garage, I went for a better (faster) car :) |

I want an AWD Juke, but without the CVT :( Does it fake shift like the Maxima?

The insurance premium for the Camaro is less than the 370z   I thought 6.2L V-8 and 426 HP would cost more but I was wrong. http://i50.tinypic.com/t4ztd5.jpg |
The cost of insurance has allot of variables one of them being cost of parts when it needs to be repaired.
And Japanese are more expensive parts vs American car parts. |

for perspective, the wrx was about 60% more than the Z, while my mustang is less than half what I paid for the Z. |

I had also toyed with the idea of buying a Z06 over the summer, and it was still cheaper to insure than the Z. |
