but if you have money to burn and want a bigger car for family, a CTS-V isn't necessarily a bad choice. Otherwise if family and funds are the issue, you would've gone for a loaded Camry 4-cylinder camry or Honda Accord for reliability and price.

I did lots of research. Many V's have well over 30 and 40 k miles with no problems and ones that pop up are minor. Many of them get modded and tracked. It drinks gas though!

What year did you buy?

These cars actually offer great reliability considering what you are getting.

Issues owners have had are minimal.

More issues with the Z imho.

It's an 09 with 22k miles. I bought the GM warranty for three years.

Great choice! I actually sold my Z, to maybe buy one of these. Couldn't find one local that I liked, that I wanted (6speed). I was also struggling with paying 40k for a used car. I ended up buying a cheap 06 BMW 330i until I decide what to really buy.

Jealous.

Um, yeah, I'm not sure what page you're on but an Altima is on a different planet in regards to acceleration, which I'd like to think most CTS-V buyers are going after. Not sure where you're getting your "information" but I don't think its credible with regards to users selling due to "reliability", especially considering you can get 100k/7YR warranties these days.

I looked for a six speed with Recaro sets for a long time. It was hard to accept paying that for a used car till I considered that a new one with the options I have is close to 70k brand new. It was a one owner car without a single scratch, so it was orth it when they gave me 29k for the Z.

Hate to tell you this , but looking at the deal you made, it seems you may have over paid.

Wholesale price on your 2011 Z $26,500 and $29,000 trade in and the CTS-V is $31,500 wholesale and $36,500 trade in. So a better deal would have been your Z and $7000 -$7500.
When buying a used car you should never pay more than $1000 more than trade in price, because in most cases dealers never pay more than wholesale for a car, they took in trade.

Your not going to get a low mileage 2 nd generation V with those options for 37k, as you suggest that's not going to happen. If you do, post a copy of that bill of sale. That's silly. It's supply and demand. A low miles 1st generation V might go for that with the 5.7 liter engine. I'll gladly say I overpaid 7 k when you post an actual bill of sale from a real dealer.

Simple facts, look up the prices on New Cars, Used Cars, Car Reviews and Pricing - Edmunds.com

When a dealer buys your car they never give you no more than wholesale value in most cases and then make huge profits by trying to sell your trade in at full retail.

When you buy a used car you have to calculate the deal using what the actual wholesale value of your trade in is and what you could buy the new used car you want for a clean deal cash value. Then the dealer should only make around $1000-$2000 on the total deal in profit.
