once again, how am I comparing up and coming cars when I made no reference of it until you brought it up? I didn't even respond to your non sense except to tell you to bring it up when or if the car comes out.

I don't recall saying anything about the miata (mx-5 btw). I think it was you who brought it up.

I suggest you go on the Corvette forums and check the prices out yourself before more non sense.

yup I am a troll who happened to own or owned a bunch of cars. I don't need to bench race it.

That's exactly why you're a troll. Piece-fitting to make contradictory statements on shyt to make you look good. I cant believe you're spending that much time on that. Job? Woman? Nothing on Tv? Guess not?
Stating the future in competition and KNOWING the next miata will pose a higher power to weight ratio are two different things. I'm just saying the future holds serious comp for the BRZ. I'm saying mazda is not going to lose there position. Miata is still considered the better, more neutral sports car by reviewers standards. What the BRZ has over it is being a 2+2 coupe vs a 2 seater roadster... Your whole post is manipulative and garbage.
I didnt say they DONT DISCOUNT VETTES. I said as the model line-up gets higher, The discounts are harder to get. Here where i live now. Corvettes are a hot commodity in dealerships, while you can get a base cheap. The GS and Z06 are not as discounted well. i didnt NO discount. Just not as well as base models.
You in turn showed me a link from a forum of dealerships in the75% of which northern regions, pretty far from tx deep discounting vettes. But thats what trolls do, right...

So bitter and trollfull:ughdance::icon18:

Tested an ST today. Looking for one with our specs or we're going to order.

I guess that means we liked it. :|

Let's just do respect each others opinion. Personally, I know Ford as one of the most excellent car manufacturer. Of course, cars condition might depend upon it's past service records and how it is being maintained. Since, you had use a rental car probably it has poor maintenance that is why you are not satisfied with it's performance. In fact, I have learned that Ford are teaming up with GM, for a joint task to produce a nine and 10-speed transmission to further improve their car models.

I drive a base Ford Focus as my GOV. For what it is its not too bad. My two biggest complaints are the hard plastic near my right knee (sore spot) and the way the engine feels when you come to a stop (shakes and stumbles).

So far I've driven 12K miles in it. If I were paying for it I would have probably chosen the Hyundai Elantra though. Spend a little more to get a better warranty.

m4a1mustang 10-04-2012 08:11 AM

We just got a loaded Focus ST. I don't have any experience with the base Focus models but the ST is pretty sweet. Good power, tons of grip, and good balance for a FWD car. Fun, practical, and efficient.

The 8" touchscreen is nice. Love all the gadgetry they are putting in the cars now. Love the Recaro seats too.

DCNISMO 10-04-2012 12:00 PM

Congrats! I saw it at the auto show in DC, and it was a nice looking car. I bet Ford Racing has goodies for it already too! Ford is good about that, offering actual parts that improve performance...not just key chains, cup-holders, and car covers.

Look at these goodies....

Thanks!

Aftermarket is still a little light for the ST right now but that's not surprising given it's only been out for maybe a month now here.

SCT already has a tune out for it which saw a bump from a 230whp/280wtq baseline (engine is underrated... heavily on the torque figures) to 253whp/324wtq.

Steeda's cold air intake is almost finished for it. I believe they are working on tuning solutions right now as well.

Cobb is working on the car too.

I'm waiting to see what Cobb and Steeda do. If Steeda puts together a CAI/Tune package we'll probably spring for that. I have one on my 5.0 and it's great. Definitely need to break the car in first before tuning it. But 320+ lb-ft at 2,000 RPM on this car should make for some comedy. :icon17:

didn't get the Nav (phone is good enough for me) but the same other wise. Been messing with Sync and MFT tonite. Check out the R&T 3 way comparo (ST, MS3, GTI)article when it comes out, you will be pleasantly surprised!

Here it is: 2013 Ford Focus ST vs. 2012 Volkswagen GTI vs. 2012 Mazdaspeed 3 ? Hot Hatchback Comparison Test ? RoadandTrack.com

.96G on the skidpad is impressive for a FWD car and confirms the "holy crap this car has a ton of grip" feeling I had when I was able to take it on some back roads.

On the acceleration front you can definitely see that it will need a tune to "wake up."

DCNISMO 10-05-2012 08:40 AM

Good article. I saw the tangerine color in the DC auto show abd it was really nice looking.
The .96 skidpad is impressive.

m4a1mustang 10-05-2012 08:59 AM

On the power front, here's the dyno sheet for the first SCT tune available for the car:

( Click to show/hide )

You can see how power really falls off on the top end. Wouldn't be surprised if the car was faster in the 1/4 mile with short-shifting.

1st guy to run one I saw was a 'Stang mod guy. He shaved like .4 seconds off by short shifting at 6200 and seemed quite surprised. Now he understands that shifting even sooner will make even better numbers (He got a 14.4 quarter first night out) He expects to get very close to 14 flat next time. The MS3 guys have long ago shown short shifting on a non modded speed3 yeilds much better results and they have better top breathing than we do.

That's what I thought. I feel like with seat time and the right shift points the car will run high 13 to low 14 at closer to 100 mph stock. That's how it feels, anyways.

I would like to see what a good driver does with a tune. +20whp and +40wtq and torque truncation eliminated should be a pretty big boost.

I think they overhype the ST in this article. I mean, it's a great car, but this "raging bargain" had the option packages to push it to 30k. That's against the base level GTI without any toys. And I'd agree about the "excellent" recaros, except my stereotypically American physique makes sitting in them an arduous chore. Calling it the best thing to come out of Wayne MI is a bit of a stretch for me, too.

I like the car. Thought it was cool, handles excellently and has great brakes. I guess I'm just upset with car mag hype more than anything. No debating it's a great car, but it's not the automobile second coming of Christ.

I think they do hype it up a little bit but it definitely deserved to take top spot IMO. It is ridiculous fun. I just got back from driving it and really had a blast. The low end torque and the gobs of grip just make it really fun. And the fact that it feels so well balanced even though it's wrong wheel drive... it's just a very well done car.

They are in no way hyping this car as much as others have been hyped (I'm looking at you FRS/BRZ!).

They're just getting started. Altho from shado's personal test drives, i prolly rank these three in that order as well. But in my mind, all three are close. They're all very fun and practical.

i was 3 1/2 inches away from buying an MS3 before the ST came out. If I were going to mod it anytime soon, I would have gone MS3, but this is the DD for picking up the grand kids, only it's a lot of fun till you get to the grand kid's house! :D Despite all the hoopla, there isn't much difference between the 2 platforms stock as far as performance. The MS3 has more power potential until you start swapping turbos and the ST has a bit better frame, interior, and gas mileage. I'd be happy with either.

shadoquad 10-05-2012 09:57 PM

I might wind up buying an ST yet. Don't quite know yet. Have to sit in one with the base seats.

Japanjay 10-06-2012 02:00 AM

Sit in one. It is like a lowered ranger. Low, but seat to foot angle like a truck. I couldnt get over it.

Lower the seat.

m4a1mustang 10-06-2012 08:17 AM

Btw that's the gripe I have about the passenger seat. The driver seat lowers to the right height (for me) but the passenger seat is not height adjustable and feels a little too high.

djrelic 10-07-2012 12:49 PM

If the focus didnt have such a negitive vibe around it for being an entry level econobox. I'd buy the Focus ST. Focus ST is on the same playing field as a GTI, and I would say it would keep up with an R32. Doesnt fall into the 300HP range of evo or STi but I believe it would give them a run for the money.

All of my ford clients got an ugly urine yellow Focus ST. It does have recaro seats, and it moves. Me and the sales manager took one out while I was there a few days ago. Very impressed with this little car. If I lived in the city, this would be my hatchback rocket.
