ok im talking about the GTR not the Z .. completely different animals as far has how the VDC works..the entire way the GTR is set up to work is configured around VDC being on or in R mode. its not a baby sitter in the GTR. With VDC R you can get the backend out and even 4 wheel drift corners.. it has nothing to do really with driver skill as its not intrusive enough unless you are at the 99th percential of skill level and are competing in time attack or something. for intermeidate and even up drivers with stock power there is really never a reason to run it off as turning it off takes away the built in failsafes they have for the AWD system. the GTR does not like mismatched wheelspin from different axels. the VDC on will detect this and limit the power to protect the car.. just a few weeks ago we had a guy get denied warranty for his transmission.. i thought that was odd as the denials are few and far between these days.. turns out he was on the skidpad ( drifting sliding doughnuts whatever) with VDC off.. thats the #1 no no on this car. the new 2012/2013s wont even launch with VDC off |

I mean, other than you owning a few over time, tracking one, and administering a forum devoted to them? Other than all that, what makes you think you know anything about them? :icon08: :roflpuke2: |
yeah there is all of that and the actual lead japanese GTR engineer ( mizunos right hand man) and the marketing manager who used to run nismo telling me they had never met anyone that knew as much me about the car as me. that was the best compliment i ever got makes me fanboy in chief :)

Yes, the 370's VDC is more intrusive than my Prius, that's how bad it is

so saying its a babysitter is derogatory, and thats not what im getting at. its just VDC is an integral part of the GTR the Z could live without it to more of an extent. the diffs will sort out a lot of what you are doing with or without VDC thats true and if your going to be breaking the next record at the ring you might benefit with it off for a super aggressive style but your average owner up to occasional weekend warrior its probably in their best interest to leave it on for the sake of the car the warranty and themselves ive never turned VDC off on any of my GTRs for the last 4 years and ive done autoX track and the strip regularly its not intrusive at all in race mode it will let you slide all over the place. now all that is said based on a GTR with stock or stockish power behaves..once these guys start tuning the ECU and TCM with all this and that its a different story and thats not really my scene |
