Driving a supercar!

So my wife's favorite car of all time is the Audi R8. So for our 6 year anniversary I set it up so that she can drive one at the Disney speedway. We are here waiting for the driver class to begin, so I was able to go out and take some pics of the different cars you can drive. There's a lot of sex out there :)

My girlfriend just did a similar thing for me a couple months ago for my 30th. Went to the speedway and I got to do 5 laps each in an Audi R8, Porsche 997 turbo, and Lambo Gallardo. I was supposed to get the GTR as she knows I've been itching to drive one but the guy who drove it before me broke it (Don't ask). So they changed it to the Porsche 997 turbo.

Your wife will have a blast. And to be honest out of the three cars I drove the Audi was my favorite.

Omg. So want

Huck 05-10-2012 02:26 AM

Yeah me too :) it started raining right as the class was starting, so it ended up getting cancelled (boooo!!). We'll head back over there on Friday and try it again. I'll take pics and videos for anyone that's interested.

The 5.2L R8 is a dream-car of mine, as well. Amazing artwork.

Any info on the cost or where to sign up for a day like this? I would love to drive an r8!

Not sure exactly where in Texas you are, but here's two spots for you
MSR Houston | Exotic Driving Experience
Texas Motor Speedway | Exotic Driving Experience
as for the cost... Driving Experiences | Exotic Driving Experience
you gotta wait a few months though

I'd like to take a 458 around the track. Hope she has a lot of fun tomorrow. Get ready for her to talk your ear off about the R8 and take out a big loan.

Could you guys say why you each liked the R8 the best?

Reviews I've read say it's an easy car to drive and has a likeable character... ...

Audi is a great cross between luxury, performance, looks, and quality. Honestly I think it gives BMW a run for its money. The R8 is incredibly sexy, performs very well, and in comparison to other super cars is pretty affordable.

Well as most people know the Audi V10 and the Gallardo are pretty much the same car, just different bodies. The Audi is slightly slower too as it's got a detuned motor compared to the Lambo. That being said the Audi just seemed to flow better, smoother, and was easy to contain. The Lambo felt more raw and at it's limits didn't seem as composed as the Audi. Another thing was the paddle shifters for the Lambo are in a odd place compared to the Audi. With the Audi there are very close to the wheel at the 9 and 3 position. With the Lambo they were further behind the wheel and slightly higher in position. During driving I never had to take my eyes off the road with the Audi but with the Lambo I kept having to see where the paddles were so I could hit them. Once coming into a corner I acciedently hit the windshield wipers instead of the paddle. I mean if I were to own either of these cars I would be getting a true manual tranny anyway so the paddles wouldn't matter; but still during the driving experience the Audi was the car that I connected with the most.

The Porsche was crazy fast and was the only one of the three I was intimitated pushing while doing laps. It also had more of a delay in shifting than the Audi or Lambo. Again this wouldn't be an issue in real life as I would get the manual. Still, the Porshe was just too much car for me. The Audi felt plenty fast while still not scaring the piss out of you and feeling as if you had control of the car. The porsche was like I was on the edge of losing control the whole time.

I plan to go back and try the GTR and Italia in the next couple weeks just for fun.
