If the installer accidentally drops the windshield in your driveway and then with a weird happenstance simultaneously drops a burning cigarette into the gas tank while a black hole devours the earth from the Long Hadron Corridor it might devalue your car. But otherwise I wouldn't worry.

Make sure the tech wears gloves any time he touches the glass. I saw something on TV years ago where glass techs were getting grease/oil from their hands on the portion of the glass that the adhesive sticks to, and the windows weren't sealing worth a crap.

Bad luck :(

Some of the installers aren't the most careful, gentle workers you would want. However, as you give them a cold drink, explain to them that you are OCD, this is a brand new car and that it's your baby and that you would really appreciate them being extra gentle with it, it should be okay.

I know I had one safelite guy come out once and he had his shirt tucked in and a big metal belt buckle and as he started to lean over the fender of the car I stopped him and had to ask him if he would mind taking his belt off as I was worried about scratches (duh).

I tend to stay around and watch hoping that will make them a bit more careful.

Good luck.

I don't know what people drink, other than beer, and I don't think they can do that on the job...

Coke?
Milk?
Juice?
Water?

Maybe I should stock up on all of the above and ask preference. I don't really "host", so that sort of thing, it's the dark continent to me.

I just tend to offer bottled water or coffee, especially if it's in the morning.

No seriously, I don't mesh with the locals so much, and I don't host stuff. I probably should just buy some juice and sprite and coke.

I would order Pieworks Pizza, but that's oily, and the glass...

:ugh2:

Thats some bad news bears stuff right there. Good luck on the replacement. I hope that all goes well with the tear down and install.

Good call, I have just been abusing myself with tap water, but I can brew some coffee :)

Will pick up some bottled water.

I called Courtesy, and yes, they can get them pre-painted. I just hope this isn't the nightmare that I think it will be.

We should send a high dollar hooker to IC's house to get him to relax a bit. :icon17:

Yeah a new windshield was also my very first mod after purchasing my car. Driving down the highway with no one in front of us for a good quarter mile and yet a rock slammed right into the windshield near the rear view mirror and within hours extended to the very top of the windshield. Got it replaced about a week later for $100 deductible and this specific one looks better than the original IMO. Still sucked though.

Pizza would be a little much anyways. Offering water/coffee is all you gotta do to come across as a nice guy.
