It sucks that brand-politics will determine the power of this.

^ Wow, that looks amazing. I think I read on the Viper forum that only 200 Vipers will be produced with that color.

Saw one earlier today heading towards me and turning into nearby street where I live, at first I thought it was the current vet, but then when I saw its *** end in the side view mirrors it was this reliable car. It was the TA one with same LED DRL as corvette.

Poor Viper, I don't know why they haven't been selling well? Yes, I understand they were over 100k, but the Viper has always had a big price tag. I think in the mid 90's they were still over 70k. Adjusted for inflation wouldn't it be around the same price? Gen 1 through 4 never had issues selling I don't believe.

Because now there are better performance cars for the value.
C7 (z06)
GTR
Porsche

All have just as good performance or better for a lower cost, plus good fuel economy. I think the v10 is great and sounds amazing, would love to own a viper but it has lost that feel.

IDK, but hopefully the price cut is going to bring in more customers. Such an awesome car. And the fact it isn't mass produced, hand built right here in Detroit is pretty sweet. Performance wise its right up there with all the cars you listed, isn't a new GT-R around or over 100k? I haven't seen reviews on the C7 Z06 but I'm sure they are going to be better than the C6 ZR1.

I believe even the GTR got a "discount" right now to drop it below 100k, not a straight cut but from the MSRP but a small discount.
The c7 z06 is already leagues above the out going ZR1 and starts well below the ZR1 price. The new Viper price will help get people to look at it again, but might be to late.

On 2014 new GT-R's (left overs) Nissan gave a 10k cash to the dealers. On the GTR forum guys were getting a new 2014 GT-R for 80k

Not to discredit the C7 and the C7 Z06, but they are a mass produced car...and you can get a C7 Z06 in coupe/convertible and manual/automatic.

A Viper is a handmade car that averages about 1200 unites per year. How many Vettes do you see a day? How many Vipers do you see...in a month? I see about 10 Vettes a day and maybe a Viper or two every couple months.

Exclusivity comes at a price. I don't believe the Viper was priced wrong...just that new car buyers are not willing to pay that much for a Viper. The Gen 5 owners LOVE the new Viper. It is hands down the best Viper ever made and I hope I can get into one in a couple of years. With Dodge announcing the $15k price cuts and a $15k voucher to new Gen 5 buyers, I hope the Viper will continue on.

I see c7 everyday and c6 also, but very rarely do I see a ZR1 or Z06, probably the same as I see a viper which is the actual comparative to a viper. The base c6/c7 is all to just sell to the masses to support the performance models. Also, the convertible/auto addition was known years ago, a head of the Corvette team who said, if the market starts to close (great recession), to continue producing the performance models they will have to add auto to the z06/zr1.
Now the Viper being hand built is nice and all but the z06 engine is hand built also, doubt anything else is. I like the new viper but I am on the side of, why spend an extra X amount when I could get something with equal or better performance with all the fun toys, tricks, etc.

Not trying to get purists angry but, I bet if you threw in a DCT option. It will start selling at least 3,500 extra units annually.
