GM did this to themselves. Nobody wanted to buy American cars because they suck. I've got friends that will disagree and argue that until the end of time, but I know because I've owned them all. Dodge, Ford, GM... I've NEVER had a reliable American car. My 300zx is the first import I've ever owned personally and it's been the best car out of them all. My family has had many Nissans and Toyotas and have had less trouble with all of our Japanese cars put together than any one single American car we've owned.

American's seem to take less pride in their work because the idea of advancement is either made to look too easy or too hard to achieve and therefore there's little to no motivation to do better.

GM cut corners like it's a race around a square track. My corvette had crappy weld points, TERRIBLE fit and finish, and after pulling the heads and exhaust manifolds off, we found some of the worst craft work we've ever seen on any car. After porting the exhaust manifold (well, actually just finishing what they didn't do in bowling green), we had a much peppier car.

Fair well, GM. You were great until you weren't.
