all this does is make me excited about wha they'll do with the next cayman S and cayman R. :yum:

they should make a cayman/boxster GTS or GT with power more similar to the 911.

But I know that would never happen...it would eat into their 911 sales. :(

There is a turbo kit that goes for$ 9k that brings it up to 450+hp, but I bet stock 315hp is just right.

It looks fantastic! Both the base and the S are going to be really sporty rides. I'll have to check one out.

I've never been a boxster fan but this new one completely changed my mind. I thought I had another contender as a replacement for my Z in the next year or so, that is until I started optioning one out on their website. EVERYTHING is extra. The price quickly shot north of $70k before I finally just stopped. There's no way I would pay that kind of money for that car.

Porsche kills you with options!

jetguy 01-18-2012 09:12 AM

Wait 3 years. Enjoy the Z then pick up a low mile used one loaded for $35k

I'd always heard that but didn't realize just how bad it was. I assumed for the relatively high starting price that it would come very well equipped in base form. That's simply not the case though.

I start out with a 911 at around $78k and end at $115-125k with the options I want. :ugh2:

I have a hard time believing I'll be able to pick up a loaded model for that kind of money in only 3 years. I'll most likely be looking to see what they do with the C7, 2013 GT500, 2014 Mustang, or 2014 STi instead. I'm more of a bang for the buck type of guy. They won't be as luxurious as the Boxster but I'll sleep better at night.

This makes me angry

m4a1mustang 01-18-2012 09:24 AM

I am bang for the buck too. I could get a boxster or 911 but I'd feel really bad about it. I think if I get one it will be used.

Yeah, you're paying for the engineering that's behind the base model. The growl produced by Porsche's power-plant is absolutely stunning IMO.

No doubt there's a lot of quality engineering there, but a lot is the Porsche badge premium as well. That's really what kills it for me. I want everything but don't want to pay for it. :icon17:

for some reason I'm really tempted to price one out now, just to see all the options...trying to resist

Unless you're willing to spend more than $60k on it then no harm will be done. :icon17:
