Decision made-I want V8 power but stay in the Z world
Loved my Z, & had good luck with it. Even with slicks & hard launches at the track, I had no breakage of rear/axles/driveshaft. A wonderful, fun car. I want the same experience but with some more power. No wild build for me. It have chosen a corvette engine with a bit warmer G.M. cam. Everything new & warrantied:) A solid 4spd auto trans from a top trans. builder. 3 gears for the track, overdrive for the ride home:) I'm leaving my 3:90 gears as well as everything Z stock:) Headers/custom exhaust, with a bit of input by me:) + a tune of course. That should give me 450+ whp. Perfect for my 11.50 sec. bracket racing. I don't need to be the fastest LS-Z. Quicker than a Corvette Z06, with the classic good looks of a Z......
Hope to see some Z's at the track this spring. Better chance seeing Santa near my chimney:icon17: |
You're doing an engine swap? Would it no be cheaper just to go supercharged or TT?

With a brand new V8 & in N/A condition, with an auto trans, running 11.5 1/4 mile, without pushing the engine with tubos/nitro/supercharger, then driving home in one piece, plus the cool factor of driving on the street, with the toughest sounding rummble around, & not having the B.S. problems that tt/supercharging/nitros brings every third weekend, is worth it to me :icon17: |
In for journal of progress and sound video clips! Good luck with the build! :)

As for all the other staff, I'm not into that. I'm not going to spend a month & 100 posts talking about every little nothing. I'll build it, I'll race it, & blow doors off at the track. |

350 or 370?

:wtf2:
OP, you should make a build thread though, it would be very cool to read about an lsx swap into an HR 350z. |

surprised op isnt banned after his last thread  |
There was a company that sold an installation kit for a LS engine swap for the 350z. Can't remember their name, but remember reading about it awhile back in the 350z forum. I wonder if they are coming out with the same type of kit for the 370z?
Several people have already done this with success with the 350z, but pretty expensive! Good luck getting the ECU to work right. |

Dude, chill. Were only having a little fun with ya here...no need for the unnecessary douchebaggeriness. I'm just sayin'.
We're all friends here, regardless of the vehicle each chooses to drive. There are quite a number of 5.0 owners on here that contribute regularly. Should they not do so simply because of the car they drive? I tend to think of this site as a like-minded community where ideas and opinions are freely shared. Sorry if you took offense to our meaningless jabs, but the point was solid: why post something that's going to obviously pique the interest of fellow Z owners, if you're not going to follow up with your trials and tribulations for us all to enjoy? Happy Holidays. |

:iagree: We try to have a more tight knit community here with less douchebaggeriness than many of the other car forums. We take all kinds here ... only defamatory posts will earn someone a one-way ticket out of here. |

"some see a letter... others see a Car" we are all Z lovers here and try to encourage and help as much as we can. some posters know more than others (im on the learning side lol)
but we all share the same love for this magnificant machine. if you plan to follow through with your build thread, we all love to see progress. |

No need to get snippy. Just saying, if you're going to post your plans repeatedly, show us some love with a build thread. It is good for the forum, and years later you'll be glad you documented it. |

Also my prediction will be is, yes you will get about 30% more immediate torque at a much lower RPM. Overall acceleration times will only increase marginally. Then you will need aftermarket to make the Z as fast as you want it for a V8. Will there even enough room in the bay for a supercharger without stretching the chassis. I think the GTR build would end up cheaper. At least the engine is the same size and weighs about. The same as ours. And it would be a "Real" JDM build. That would be hotttt! |

I'd love to have an LSx in a z (I'd want a 370 though)
The brilliant chassis combined with a brilliant motor would be awesome. |

I liked the car so much, that I bought it back from State Farm, right before the auction. I loved everything about that car. Even today, I'm not that sure which way to go. Sorry for the drama, but don't we all love our cars? My car is at a shop. I have 3 choices. 1)Re-wire it completely, & hope it'll be as good as new, 2)sell it, then buy a 370z, mode it & drag race in the bolt on class, or 3) With a broken title, I no longer have to worry about strict N.Y.S. inspection laws, so I can build an LS 350z with the classic look of a Z. I CAN'T change what happened. I don't care for the look of the Vette!!! I will post some pictures/video & more info of my car, so maybe some will understand my predicament & all this drama that I don't want or should have created. It's not life & death situation but it's still important to me. I'll say I'm sorry for my long winded & repeated postings. Thank you I also want to thank the Moderators for their patience with me. |
swap in a vg30dett... run 6's :p
