its not going to be in that performance bracket... it is supposed to be a 400hp car so think porsche carerra as a hopeful benchmark

SO basically it will offer base Corvette performance for twice-three times the price? That is the same formula that killed it last time.

I don't like Acura's in the first place.

I liked the old NSX, it was just like other Honda cars, like the S2000, though. It died because it failed to evolve significantly over many years and soon became a mid-level sports-car in performance rather than the entry-level "Supercar" it initially was aimed to be, all the while its price remained somewhere between the two. It was horribly stupid marketing, similar to the 300ZX TT, that killed it, and the S2000--both killer awesome cars--just horribly mismanaged.

I think they're going for less is more instead of engaging the other manufacturer in a hp war. If they make it a true drivers car with ample performance, it's a win. I'm curious to see how the hybrid vectoring tech is truly going to effect how it handles around a track. You only need to look at something like the top gear laps to see how the specs don't always win. Also, by the corvette rationale, the 911 should be a flop....then again there's a lot in a name. Honda doesn't have the same prestige as Porsche.

they should just put their jet engine turbine on it and be done with it.

This is why all eyes are on the FT-86. Does the market really want a "drivers car" or are we hitting a point in the industry norm where we treat our cars no more than our toaster ovens.

Why should the 911 be a flop? It's one of the fastest, most powerful cars on the planet, with 650 horsepower in factory GT2 trim.
Or it's docile, and a GREAT driver's car, with ample power to feel sporty, in the base 911 trim. The 911 has a trim level for every desire. AWD, RWD, N/A, TT, you name it. It's a helluva success, and Corvette has emulated the 911 philosophy.

FTFY :stirthepot:

I test drove 911s before buying my Z. Besides the real reasons I didn't go with a used 996, I had no trouble spinning it and knew it could have been the death of me. I also know I can't ever have a sportbike :ugh2:

Edit: Still looking forward to actual NSX details and reviews.
