please let me explain to you the process of this transaction and you can decide if you want to proceed or not.as i told you in my first email, i recently got divorced. I also got a new job and moved to omaha nebraska in order to start over. I'm in omaha nebraska but my presence won't be necessary because i prearranged the deal with paypal. The car is in omaha at the shipping company, ready to be delivered. The deal includes free delivery and it will arrive at your address in 3 to 5 working days. You will have 5 days to test it and inspect the car prior to making any purchase and if by any reason you find something you don't like about it you can send it back at my expense. If you want to make this deal i need the following details from you: Full name, address, and phone#.
Once i have your info i will forward them to paypal to get things started. Paypal will contact you shortly after they have the details with all the information that you need to complete this
deal and you will also have proof that i am covered by them and a legitimate seller. Waiting for your email with the requested details.

This is a complete scam. You'll see this process used in various forms. It's like the Nigerian scam. Run the other way as fast as you can.

Screw that.
Get an address and send a box of crap. LOL

Dude, there is NoOo way someone is willing to be that accommodating with an $80k vehicle. To let you drive the car for five days with nothing but your name, address and phone number? Forgeddaboudit! That car (provided it evenn exists) is probably hot as Hell.

Sounds pretty similar to the response I got on the one I asked about, notice how the name changes beween emails as well. Also as previously mentioned, the ad said it was in Utah, the seller states it is in Houston, and the CARFAX report shows it being in San Antonio:

The car is still for sale and the asking price is $15,680. It is located in Houston, TX and is registered on my name and the title is clear (VIN JN1AR5EF5BM240129 -no lien), It has done 18,500 miles. I'm a pilot on cargo flights, my wife broke up with me recently because I'm always away from home. We just sold our house and split the money. This is the last thing I need to sell and split the money with her. Because I'm away most of the time I will not be able to deal in person, but I've already arranged the shipping and the title transfer anywhere in the US. I will pay the shipping fees. If you are still interested please email me back so I can explain how can we do this.
Thanks,
Frank

I want the payment to be handled by Kelley Blue Book
You will deposit $2700 to Kelley Blue Book and they will keep the money until you will receive and inspect the car. You will have a 5 days inspection period. If the car is not as described it will be shipped back on my expense and they will give you a full refund. This way, you will be able to inspect the vehicle before committing to buy it and I know that you have the money and you aren't just fooling around.
Giving the nature of this transaction please note that my sale terms are final and nonnegotiable. In order to move forward and register the transaction with Kelley Blue Book I will need your full name, address and phone number, after that they will contact you with the payment instructions.I don't want to offend you, but the car is priced for a fast sale so please if you intend to apply for a loan or financing do not reply to this message!
Thanks,
Adam

Screw with them and waste their time, but please don't give these guys any money.

That link is by far the best story of messing with a scammer. When the thread first blew up you didn't have to register, though... Basically the guy got a Nigerian scammer to get tattoos insinuating he was gay, and then got the guys friends to do the same. He then harassed the scammer for like a month. Well worth registering if you've got some time to kill.

I almost bought a $42k bulldozer for $20k but then I woke up and realized it was a scam. I kept telling the lady over email to let me come look at it and that I would tow it but she insisted that it needs to be shipped for free. What's sad is, someone probably fell for the scam at some point, making it worthwhile for the scam artist to continue his efforts.

Skeeterbop 11-28-2011 08:28 PM

haha, I told him I would drive to Houston and pick it up myself and he refused, saying he would ship it to me.

happytheman 11-28-2011 08:33 PM
