Anyone test drive the 2012 Beetle?
Just curious as you can now get the turbocharged GTI engine and a 6-speed manual in the Beetle...and at least the new design looks a hell of a lot better than the old one. I don't think a guy would have to be embarrassed to be seen in one anymore. Wondering how the performance/feel differs from the GTI hatchback, if at all.

Uh no cuz its gay....and overpriced.

Not unless they put the flower holder back in:mad:
|
why would you want to? hopefully they will succeed literally the worst vehicle ever conceived by man with one of appallingly bad levels as to match its predecessor
|
He was just wondering. I'm curious to know what people think about the new one too, driving wise. Looks wise...I have my reservations as everyone else does hahaha.

It's basically a MK VI GTI in a new beetle body and i happen to really like the new GTI so drivetrain wise, I think it's good, that's about it though. |
they made some neat improvements on the car for sure. I still don't really have much interest in them though.

Exactly...just wondering about the driving feel since the engines are the same. I might test drive one for grins but that's it. I test drove a GTI as couple of years ago and thought it was pretty darn good, but not worth the sticker of around 28k. While I do think the new beetle looks decent (subjective obviously), I'd never buy one. Like someone else said, VW's are overpriced and the maintenance costs a pretty penny too and since I once owned a Jetta I can also say DIY is a PITA for pretty much everything too. Also I'd say they tend to be in the lower end of the reliability scale too compared to other makes. |
their last turbo version was slooow.
long time ago beetle was the poorman's porsche. latest beetle is like the poorwoman's TT. :icon17: |

imtired, what is that avatar / game you have? do you have any idea how many hours of my life i gave to that game as a young'en? that was the greatest game ever!!!

The last Beetle had a chassis that was shared w/ The Volkswagen and Audi TT. The beetle def. felt cheap inside. It drove decently for front-wheel drive + small n/a 4 cylinder.
The new one offers an inline-5 engine, still w/ modest power , i believe. |
