Thought I'd share this with you guys from last night:
My girlfriend and I were driving back to her apartment from dinner at my parent's house a little after 8 last night. We were driving one of the county parkways which is two lanes each way. I was in the left lane moving with traffic and a blue current generation Evo was in the right lane with slower traffic. As I went along side him to pass, he immediately dropped gears and started goosing the throttle continuously, even with traffic immediately ahead of us. He jumped over to the left lane right behind me and kept goosing it while tailgating me very closely. When there was a brief opening in the right lane he swung out, passed me, and cut me off to get back into the left lane. This went on for about 5 miles and we were still in moderately heavy traffic and were coming up on another parkway system. I moved to the right lane because normally I would get off onto the other parkway, but I noticed a county cop up ahead so I decided to continue on and take another route home. The Evo couldn't see the cop ahead otherwise he would have exited to the other parkway, instead he was stuck behind me doing under the speed limit behind the cop for another 5 miles. Anyways, he keeps following and throws revs here and there. Eventually I turn off onto a dark side street and the dumbass follows me. At this point he's been following me for about 10 miles. He's riding my *** and keeps hitting his brakes and accelerating, swerving all over the place trying to intimidate me. I mentioned to my gf that I wanted to pull over into a parking lot to see if he'd follow but she said no. So I told her if he follows me on a third turn I will no longer consider him a nuisance but instead will consider him a threat. This is the Commonwealth of Virginia, not Maryland. In Virginia, we carry. I always have my Glock 26 on me and sometimes I have my AR-15 in the trunk if I plan on going to the range... Thankfully, he decided to turn right when I turned left. I'm sure he was somewhat lost at this point and needed to find his way back to the parkway. But god damn, what a douche. |

I debate about it constantly, but I think I'm putting my NRA, Glock, Colt, and BCM Gunfighter decals on my car. I just want people to leave me in peace on the road. |
I never put stickers on my cars (unless required by law or military). They are unsightly and provide information about the owner that theaves can use. Like alpine stickers says "this guy has a great stereo to steal" or NRA stickers say " this guy most like leaves a gun in his car".

Too bad they don't make a cross hairs badge to replace the fake gas cap "GT Badge" on the trunk.

What are some of the nice Z features you miss on the mustang? What are some of the non performance features that the mustang has that the Z didn't?
For example Push button start and proximity key Electric and heated seats (for those who don't have them in the mustang) |
Quote:
1) The knee pads. These were a neat feature that you really don't think about until you drive a car without them. That's not to say the Mustang is uncomfortable, it's just that resting your knee against the soft pad on the Z was a cool feature. 2) The storage cubby... it was convenient. 3) Alcantara trim... it was a nice touch. Non-performance things the Mustang has that the Z doesn't: 1) Sync 2) Trunk. It's nice to separate your luggage from the cabin. 3) Back seats... nice to have if you need them. 4) Integrated blind spot mirrors 5) Better visibility 6) More comfortable seats |
So the synch is that much better than the hands free system of the Z nav?
|
I didn't have Nav on my Z so I couldn't tell you, but Sync is awesome.
|
Sync is much better than the z's hand free. Not even close....though I had an 09.
Only thing I really miss is the key. I guess the nav screen, but that's not really a fair comparison. |
Judging from pics I like the Aesthetics of the Z better. But comfort wins over beauty.
|
I like the interior aesthetics of the Mustang and the Z. Both are done very well IMO. The Z has a sportier feel and the Mustang is a bit nostalgic and feels a little more "grown up," but that's just me. It's definitely more comfortable, but that's not saying the Z wasn't.
|
The only uncomfortable time I had in the Z was the 3 long trips I took. SA to el paso 500+ miles and el paso to Dallas 700+ mile each way. It wasn't until over 350 miles til the seat got to me.
|
Yeah, I drove my Z on a 1000 mile trip and the 5.0 on the return leg. It's not the most comfortable thing, but I would just make sure I stretched my legs and walked some whenever I stopped to get gas and I was fine.
|
I prefer the 2 seater with stuff in the cabin with me. But that's personal pref.
Also, I agree with Lemers about stickers. I just don't like them on cars. And I don't think it will keep ppl from messing with you or following. The solution is usually to first verify that they're tailing you and then go to a very public place and go inside with ppl around. |

Would you really troll a guy with gun stickers all over the back of his car, though? I wouldn't. |
I don't mess with ppl in general, but bumper stickers invite conversations I don't want.

Im kinda dreading my drive to ZDAYZ. I get pretty uncomfortable after about two hours in the drivers seat. |
When I drove from Phoenix to San Antonio (14 hours straight) I was surprised that I didn't feel more cramped than I did. I only made 2 stops each way for gas/food. I was comfortable the whole way. I would need to adjust every now and then, but it was never uncomfortable.
Of course, come to find out I had a bald rear tire with the steel belts starting to come undone from showing through so much. :icon14: But I guess that's to be expected from putting 3k miles on it in 5 days. |
My problem, and this isn't exclusive to the Z, is that my legs are proportionately longer than my arms, so I end up having to stretch my arms more than I would like on cars without telescoping steering wheels. So my arms tend to fatigue on longer drives.
Alchemy, if you cruise with us you shouldn't have a problem. We stop every couple hours and since its a decent sized group we are usually stopped for at least 15 minutes. |

It's why I always look like I just left a colon cleansing center when I'm driving lol |
Haha, yeah, I wish I had a telescoping wheel. I would probably bring the wheel 3 inches closer or more.

I don't need telescoping steering wheels. My limbs are all proportionate to my body.
|
I need a merc with a massage seat and nannies that detect when I'm asleep and autopilot the car to work.
|
The day they bring a car that drives itself to the market is the day I quit driving

Also. Do I want to trust my life to a "system error" in someone elses car?

Haha... you know those days though when you drive to/from work and you just aren't all there. It's probably a little different in an auto, but there are days when I am just "off" with my 6 speed and just can't wait to get out of the car and settle down with a glass of Maker's 46. :icon17:
