I would get a Saturn sky with a v8. Looks nice, nimble and 400hp. A total sleeper that would track well.

Daisuke, we'll just have to agree to disagree. You make fine points, but I still like what a Miata gets you for 25k. I'd get one for 15k and spend the rest modding it.

But it's all good. And I agree that a G8 would be hella fun and roomy.

I kindof disagree. I would no way spend $25K on a miata. I would buy a used Z06 and have a helluva lot more fun. Or any number of other cars.

The beauty of the Miata is that it can be had in good shape for $5K and you can beat the piss out of it, slide it all over the parking-lot through the cones, and not care about smearing the fenders with them when you run them over.

The G8 is a nice car. I raced one once and it surprised me (lowered and had Magnaflow. It performed equal to my WS6 and all the C5 'vettes I had raced, in a straight line.).

Right. So lets just compare it to the GT2-RS, then.

I mean, 25k to 45k is not that far...

...I guess it is a little far-fetched...like cross-shopping a 370z and a Z06...:bowrofl:

I had a budget of 80K and was looking at all angles. This is like if I had a budget of 40K and was cross-shopping a Z06. Total 180*.

Actually, I'm still shopping the 370Z. Just waiting for the platform to mature and then I will probably down-size, move, and trade in the Z06 for one. Love the car, just waiting to see where Nissan is going to take the powerplant.

+1, the NSX has a lot of history, engineering, and most important was MADE TO BE DRIVEN. I retract my C5Z06 plan. NSX FTW!

First you have to find one in decent condition. You're probably looking at an early 90s model if you do. It could be a fantastic toy for that money, but how expensive to maintain, and how frequently can you expect a 20 yr old car to break down?

That said, if you're passionate about turning wrenches, maybe this is the way to go. And that's not a slam. Some folks love project cars. If I was into that, a 91 NSX would be great! But I'd rather have modern tech and less garage time.

Red__Zed 08-03-2011 08:12 AM

Yeah, NSx would be a bitch. You could find a decent 93 or so, but not worth it to me
