Much as I like to give Hyundai some credibility, all that went out the window after seeing my girlfriend's roommate's Accent give her so much problems.

First off, the rear suspension took a crap after about 3k miles and ended up needing replacement.

Second, half of the rear defroster just went out.

Lastly, tire pressure sensor kept popping up so she ended up taking it to the dealer MULTIPLE times.

At the very least, all of it was covered by warranty.

LMAO!

Please - I suggest you reread what you posted.

And I wonder if you ever made the same type of derogatory posts about Nissan's quality? Somehow I doubt it.

There's anecdotal stories about quality issues w/ every manufacturer.

Maybe your gf got a lemon or she had an older Accent before Hyundai improved their quality.

Nonetheless, when you look at the recent reliability surveys/ratings done by JD Power, Consumer Reports and Auto Bild (Germany) - which probably does the most comprehensive analysis of reliability in the industry - Hyundai, overall, does better than Nissan.

I must say that my wife's 2008 Hyundai i30 seems to be put together better than my own MY'06 350z, although there's not much to choose between them in terms of quality. Hyundai appear to be including more up-to-date gadgets as standard, to make the customer happy. The 'extra long' Hyundai warranty is also a good thing (5 years here in the UK).

Plus, I think that 'legendary japanese reliability' is very much a thing of the past (just like most legends are!).

Stop fooling yourself haters, My friend has Hyundai Sonata 2004, and it has more than 130,000 miles on it already. It had NO problems, or rattles. Its very nice car with solid quality build.

If you guys really want to talk about reliability and dependability, then did you guys know for the last 8 years Hyundai has been rating above average for being reliable?

2009 JD power survery just came out, and Hyunda has drop slightly to Average now, but its still higher than our beloved company, Nissan.

http://http://www.jdpower.com/autos/...tings-by-brand

I mean, I have base 370z with sports package, and it already has problem with seat moving around during hard driving, and Oil temperature issues!!
I wonder what the haters would say if this was the case with Hyundai..

Stop hating on Hyundai, your insecurities are showing. Just man up and accept that its very good company car. Better than any American car company, and probably better than Mazda, and soon, I think it will surpass Nissan?

Get the fact straight. Hyundai > Nissan in reliability and dependability. Look at the Hyundai Genesis sedan, that thing is one of the most underrated car. No wonder it has won North American car of the year of 2009, and rightfully so. In my opinon, its much better than Maxima in every aspect of the way.

The perception of Hyundai company has been progressiving toward positive side, and eventually its going to be better than Nissan.

It does not bode well for hyundai to recall.

But, toyotas, and other japanese cars have PLENTY of recalls too, but we just never hear about it. But, like toyota, at least hyundai went the way to issue a recall and fix it BEFORE-hand instead of just using a TSB to fix it.

Would i buy a hyundai just yet? Probably not, I might wait a little.
