Default Seibon + Elise = Fail?!?

Just found a few articles that Seibon's full cf elise actually turned out to be heavier than before all the cf. I would think if the goal was to advertise how much lighter cf is you wouldn't use a car that is engineered to be as light as possible already. It would leave you with a very small margin of error, and this error occurred at Sema, quite embarressing...someone flame the project manager.

1)
2) this should be moved to "Other Vehicles"

seriously though, why even touch the elise? it's ridiculous light already!

Yah, on a car like that, get a lighter and fit driver. Easiest way to remove extra unneeded weight.

Their normal carbon 350Z hoods were heavier than stock too (even the vented ones) - and fitment was inconsistent at best. That's the main reason we stopped selling them. But people love carbon, so they continue to do well.

This is why Password:JDM needs to jump into the 370z market and sell 100% carbon fiber body components.

Are the ones that are heavier 100% carbon fiber or are they just cosmetic?

Seibon produces wet CF, not the lightest way to do CF
