I think I might buy a CRZ this weekend
one step closer to making the Z track only.
Its a combination of several things, but mainly, just wanting another car. other factors Exhaust - loud in car Suspension - rough riding (tein monoflex setup for track) gas mileage - 600-800 miles of commuter per month switching between street and track setup scraping the bottom of the car on speed humps at work parking lot. so I think I will buy a CRZ. Also thinking of selling my texas rollback trailer and getting an enclosed one, and just storing the Z in the trailer. |
Why dont you drive one of the other two cars in your signature LOL...
|
I like the CRZ, actually. I'd buy one as a DD.
|
Z4 is my wifes and I drive the expedition now, but I hate it. Its a great tow vehicle for the track, but other than that, I don't like it. Should have never gotten rid of the tahoe.

Get the CRZ, It seems like it would be a great second car. I would have loved to have leased that instead of my Versa as my second car but I could not afford it. |
Wait a year and see what the FT-86/216a is like...
RWD, cheap, turns, potentially not ugly... be... patient... |
happiness is having another car as dd and a 370z as a weekend car :)

Good idea! Means you can get deeper into converting the Z into a track car and we can run together with similar cars! :)
I've heard good things about Tahoes as DD's and tow vehicles... not surprised to hear that you miss it vs the Expedition CRZ sounds sensible... sounds like you're looking for a reliable DD with warranty? are you going to keep it stock? I'm seriously thinking about getting the Ruckus as an alternative means of transportation... would that be enough for you? do you have a short commute on low speed roads? or do you have to get on highways? http://www.honda-motorcycles.info/mo...nda-Ruckus.jpg |

Cool little car, I say go for it
You already seem set on it so you might as well give in. |
Dang for 20k could get the new sonata or a nissan juke
|
I don't think a CRZ makes much sense unless for looks?
It is slow for a sporty car, gets poorer gas mileage than cheaper cars, and has the potential problems of a hybrid. How about a Justy or a Fit or a Miata? |
Or if gas mileage isnt the biggest concern... Pontiac g8 gt
|
other ideas... focus electric? abarth 500?

I like the looks, and I don't need a lot of power in a DD, plus the mileage is a plus. I think with all the turmoil in the ME we might be looking at $5-6/gal. gas soon. With USAA pricing, a base model is 19100. I lose bluetooth, xenon headlights and a subwoofer, and a couple other small things
from the EX model, but I'm going to be moving my aftermarket setup out of the Z into the 'Z' anyways. |
other than the possibility of rims and springs, no real mods for it.
|
What about the new scion Tc, I heard they really improved it with the new generation.
|
Are you against something like a Honda Fit or Mazda 3?
|
I might be in the minority here, but I like the CRZ. A coworker has one, and they're nice little cars.
|
I think I just really want to try a hybrid, and every other hybrid is boring.
|
out of curiosity, ive heard you mentioned you dont like the expedition a few times.. why not trade that in for a tahoe?

If you really are looking for a hybrid then I think the CR-Z is a great choice actually. Personally, I'm not big on hybrids but if you are then it's the only one I think is worthwhile.
|
How about a Mini Cooper instead? Or a Ford Fiesta?
|
I know you want a hybrid but I would consider a Mazdaspeed 3. It's got good power, turbo, trunk space, enough interior room, and it gets good gas mileage. My friend has one and I have to say it is pretty peppy. Since its a turbo it gets great mpg when you're just cruising. A lot of people criticize its looks, but trust me it grows on you. You can even get nav for it.
|
Nissan Juke gets my vote. Much, much more fun than a CR-Z and better equipped base. Both cost virtually the same.

The new mazdaspeed 3's interior and bumper are :barf: |
Can't do electric. It's 100 miles round trip to work and car sits for several days while I'm flying.
Doing paperwork on the CRZ now, I really like it a lot. |

Keep us updated on mpg. I would really like to know what the real world mpg is on the CRZ. |
MT, I was considering getting an auto for a change of pace, but just can't bring myself to do it.
