Focus in on the behavior of the Mustang at speed, the pro driver said it was all over the place. Wait for Automobile, Car & Driver, or Road & Track comparisons.

Again, Motor Trend is a worthless POS rag, the worst car mag on the planet. They are laughed at by other mags all the time. Petersen Publications is a joke. Their biggest asset is Hot Rod Magazine. That says it all.

Not a slight of the Mustang, it's a great car, and wicked bang for the buck, just like a 370Z in that regard. But it's no BMW M3.

OK, so Randy Pobst, the professional driver, the 2003, 2007, 2008 SPEED World Challenge GT champion and is a two-time class winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona, in 2001 and 2006 is willing to lie here? He's thrown away his professional rep for a single car review? Did his driving skills go to shite because MT was paying him for his opinion? Sometimes you just have to let go and accept the new paradigm! :D The 'stang isn't a match in all areas but it is in the performance area. To be honest, the M3 is the performance version of a 335i and they should have compared the M3 to Ford's high performance (yet still much cheaper) version of the mustang called the GT500 where it would precisely get it's *** stomped into the ground.

:D

Amen.

They also should have compared the 328i to the '11 Mustang 5.0 since it's more similar in price than the BMW M3. The Mustang would have made that car look like it was going in reverse in any sort of performance measurement.

Honestly the only reason they did the comparo is because the numbers were so similar. No one ever really thought to compare Mustang and M3 before. I thought it was fair...

:shakes head: No, comparing a 328i to the Mustang GT is a waste of paper.

They did the right thing. They compared the top-of-the-line M3 to the affordable Mustang 5.0 GT. It was illuminating, and it got people talking, which is exactly what ford and motor trend wanted. Even BMW is probably unfazed, since those who can afford an M3 probably would still prefer it to the brash American.

Thanks bud. Nope, as president of the Mid-Atlantic 370Z Owners Club (MAZOC) I am going to stick around. Plus I have a goal to hit 30,000 posts. :icon18:

Thanks, dude. Silver is like that, haha. This one isn't that bad either. I love this color... I'm so glad I chose this over Kona Blue.

I was thinking that maybe 3.73 was going to be too low of a gear for the car, but it feels just right. According to my trip computer I averaged close to 23 mpg on the trip home with a bunch of throttle on and varying cruising speeds for the break in.

At one of my fuel stops I decided to play around with the Brembo car's TC/ESC tuning... it's pretty wicked. It lets you slide the thing around a bit and the TC won't cut in and force you to bog down when you slip the wheels... it feels like it pulls back on the throttle maybe a little bit but lets you stay in it. Can't wait to get this thing on a race track. :driving:

great color, sterling grey was my first choice, but, can't go wrong with black except keeping up maintenance. enjoy man, yea 3.73 is good, the way the people on the boards made it out to sound like first was non existant, but its fine, except the skipshift, that i get from time to time, but the ecu flash or tune, will take care of that.

Pushing_Tin 09-07-2010 04:34 PM

What kind of money did you get on the trade?

3.73s seem just right. There is plenty of first. Of course I haven't really been all out with it yet so I'm sure I could spin my way through most of 1st and 2nd. :icon17:
