Wow! Godzilla came pretty close! Put 30k in that GTR and it would smoke the LFA and use the extra 300K and invest in a House ;)

or invest in a whore house....

400,000 for a LEXUS?! :inoutroflpuke:
The GT-R is a ...ninja!!! |
Citing ¼ 0-60 times, trap speeds, or dollar signs as reason enough to deem cars such as the GT-R, ZR-1, and Dodge Viper (A lot cheaper) superior vs. the Lexus LF-A is completely missing the point. By that logic pretty much all super cars are a rip off which couldn’t be farther from the truth. You could put 20-30k in an EVO and smoke almost anything. And? Forget about driver involvement, the fun /joy of driving, the sound of an F1 like V10 at 8500rpms, the confidence a well engineered car inspires, etc, etc.
As far as I'm concerned the LF-A is leagues above the GT-R in the areas where it really matters. If all I cared about was winning races at the light sure I’d choose a GT-R. If I wanted what is probably the best overall performing street legal sports car I’d buy a Porsche GT2 RS. It all of course depends on what you want but to dismiss an automobile based solely on test track numbers / price is pretty ignorant. Well, unless all you care about is getting from point A to point B the quickest. |

The GT-R lacks a lot of the credentials most true driving enthusiast desire. Just because an automobile happens to be quicker to one or the other doesn’t by default mean it’s flat out the better car. Now if your life depended on bragging rights and winning stop light races sure the GTR is really hard to beat. But if you actually like to drive, there are a **** load of automobiles more desirable than a Nissan GT-R believe it or not. This is probably hard for you to swallow seeing as you apparently own a GT-R and think its God’s gift to automobiles. You being a smartass asking “Because you’ve drove a LF-A too, right” just goes farther on to prove just how much in denial you are. And regardless the only reason the GT-R stands a chance in hell against the LF-A in the ¼ mile is due to AWD. The LF-A has a lot more top end power trapping the ¼ in 124-126 on average. But again, this is besides the point. Anyone with any real knowledge of cars understands what I’m talking about. |

let me translate.... im buying into the magazine hype where atleast once a review someone says that the car drives its self and leaves the driver with no real emotion attachment because it does everything for me |

Sure there are other qualities that go into a car's overall value and appeal other than speed, but the point here is pretty obvious: The LF-A is not worth over 300K more than the GTR. Plain and simple. I mean lets be honest, if someone is going to fork out 400K on a car they wont be getting a Lexus when they could buy a lambo, porsche, ferrari, etc

mrcardio does have a salient point, though, in that cars aren't judged by performance vs price alone (bang for buck), or else any supercar becomes an impractical waste, and so do almost all luxury cars for that matter. But all the same, I think that GT-R owners ought to have pride in the fact that their <100k car can stack up with 400k supercars in performance. They win the bang for the buck argument against a car 4-5 times as expensive. Now, the rest? I dunno. Fit-n-finish, exclusivity, gizmos... I dunno.

but those looks, the exclusivity of owning only one of 500 ever made. The fact that its going to be different, a bigger head turner than most other cars by far.. All depends on what you want. If EVERY car purchase was decided purely on numbers, you can say bye bye to ferrari, lamborghini, etc. everyone of those buyers would have a GT-R. Or heck a zr-1. Now dont tell me a zr-1 is "better" than a scuderia? Its all preference. But until i can "choose" to afford either.. :-D im just not even gonna worry about these 2 cars. |
I'll admit it turns heads... but so does an R8 cost way less and imo turns head just as well
