totally agree. what we consider a hyper car now will likely be the peak of automotive excellence for the next 20 years or so. i don't see how, with the limitations of physics, that you can possibly get faster than cars like the bugatti super sports and others mentioned in this thread (the real hyper cars, not the joke posts). there is just simply a limit to what tires are capable of right now and with the new regulations on emissions and CAFE, hyper cars are going to get more and more rare.
on a side note: jeremy said on Top Gear last night that the 458 italia was one of the best ferrari's of all time and he liked it better than the F40, and that's saying a lot because he's claimed multiple times about his hard on for the famed F40. the 458 is not a hyper car but it would definitely be my choice in that price segment right now for a coupe. (convertible would be the lambo gallardo spyder) |
