What other cars are you considering besides the 370Z?

I'm not sure how many of you are considering much else beyond the 370Z, but I am curious to know your thoughts?

As for me, well it's quite simple:
-MINI Clubman S
-Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 V6

I'm pretty sure this is the only time in my life I'll be able to enjoy a sporty coupe. If I get the Z or the MINI I'll probably keep it even after I get married and have kids (23 now, so this is definitely a LONG way off). I believe in holding onto a car for a little while and just appreciating what you have. I have quite a few friends and acquaintances that go through cars like most folks change clothes, and we're not talking cheap-o automobiles. I'm talking BMW, Infiniti, Audi, Lexus, and other high-end models and makes. I guess its part of the SoCal culture.

motaboata 11-07-2008 08:59 PM

Honestly I am sticking with my Taurus, I would rather have a house than a nice car... I had a BMW miss the car but not the payment... So I am saving that extra cash for a house!

cstr_Cali 11-07-2008 10:01 PM

So you're an enthusiast not looking to purchase? I think you're wise in your idea to pursue the purchase of a home instead of a car for very obvious facts and reasons.

Me on the other hand, though I foresee the pitfalls of not saving up and buying a home I'm a little more philosophical in my reasoning to pursue a purchase of a sports/sporty car; simply, I love cars. I have ever since I was a child, "car" was my first word (ask my Mom if you don't believe me). For me cars are so much more than a means of A to B, they're life, life on the open road. A place where I feel most at home, and a car that makes the most of that experience is the right car for me. Sorry for a the philosophical rant, but I'm sure you catch my drift by now.

motaboata 11-07-2008 10:05 PM

I agree I love cars, I love to mod them but right now have kid on way house is number one. I figure if I get a house cheap now in bad economy when market rises in 5-10 years, I can sell it have money for a real nice car no payment and buy a 3 family home to support my modding habit!

tifosiotaku 11-07-2008 10:31 PM

Chevrolet Camaro (provided that GM survives 2009)
Ford Mustang (the spy shots of the 2010 model looks nice, but why Ford is holding off a year until they put the 5.0-liter V8 in the car, I'll never know)
Hyundai Genesis Coupe
Mini Cooper JCW
BMW 135i

cstr_Cali 11-07-2008 10:47 PM

I drove the 135i and left less excited than I was going into the drive. Maybe I should set my expectations lower in the future?

I am waiting for BMW to put the twin turbo 3lt DIESEL engine in their coupe version and hope that they will allow to order it with a manual transmission.................then I will wait for a big block V8 engine to challenge it in a red light.

PS: As an added bonus i will love to get 36 mpg

tifosiotaku 11-10-2008 02:42 PM

If Ford survives to 2010, I may consider a Mustang...

I just got a cool magazine/info book from BMW about the Z4 http://www.the370z.com/images/370zforum/bmw_m_logo1.jpg. The car looks amazing. With 330 HP, I am very curious to see how this car racks up to the New 370Z. I think it'll be a VERY close match.

g35lamd 11-10-2008 08:10 PM

I'm either going to keep my G35 or get a new 370z.

cow 11-10-2008 08:33 PM

I really really like the new Subaru STI. Everything I hated about the old cars has been changed for the better.

I really want a 370Z, but I'm considering saying "F it" & getting the Subaru as it's SO much more practical.

Anyone cross shopping with a 335i? Kinda different I know, but the 135i is too darn ugly!

The member (onethreefive) has the 08 135i here. He can tell you all about the car. I have agree with ya, the 135i side and rear profile isn't pretty. It's lines are NOT as beautiful as the 330ci. Front looks pretty good, but again all BMW fronts looks pretty much the same. But that car is a freakin' beast though. I had a chance to beat one up one day and I did! The car is very fast and handled really well. I think the new 370Z will give it a run for it's money :driving:

+1 on the new STI....

I was never a wagon person, but I would rock one of these!!

I've driven both 135i and 335i; 135 is fantastic from a dynamic standpoint, and has a great interior, and awesome fuel economy for >300 hp... but the looks are a deal breaker for me.

I'm coming from an '06 STI, and while the 08 STI is fun to drive, higher quality and comfier than mine, it is quite overpriced and lacking features a 35-40k should have such as keyless entry/go, one-touch up and down windows, etc.

c'mon alefcole if you order the one now you can probably get it by Jan. Euro delivery and PCD--what a great way to start off the new year. :stirthepot:

Plus new orders will be getting the start button engraved with "YEAR ONE OF THE ONE" till the end of february 2009 (when a full year since launch has passed), so I have 3 months to think about it. Better wait and test drive this 370Z, just to be sure.

Poor mans R8??? :icon17: .. I think it'll be a very good competitor EVEN though 35000 pounds is equal to $50, 000 but they have VATS and stuff which brings the price up. Looks nice actually.

135i doesn't look that aggressive but it's a performer. STI on the other side is a serious performer as well but looks okay. Nothing I'd brag to my friends about. I like my car to have appearance and power. I guess that's why I drive a Z

alefcole 11-13-2008 04:12 PM

Appearance and power are very subjective and what looks beautiful to one looks ugly to the other one. Power is the same thing, for someone driving a honda civic as a daily driver 300HP may seem a lot, but if you own a 911 turbo then 300HP is a slow turtle. I think your final choice is down to one simple thing:

How much power can you afford, in other words HOW MUCH MONEY ARE YOU WILLING TO SPEND.......then your $32000 dollars car will look just beautiful into your eyes. :stfu:

Wow this topic is so interesting guys...
I'm bugging out to it, LOL!
Jeez, but SO many choices for next year!
I know its all about the car's specs., but I really care about appearance too...
But when I saw the 370z it had me. No matter what I'm going to stay true and get myself a 370z white!

I totally agree only thing stopping from getting one of these will be the price and if that be the case i will have 2 decide between a EVO X or GENSIS COUPE

Z4 m coupe is ~$10k more expensive and about to go out of production. The NEW Z4 should be good competition though.

It's a big magazine they sent me. I recently did the BMW Ultimate Drive and they have been sending me a lotta stuff. I gotta tell you, the new Z4 looks pretty nice in White and with the ///M package, it's not a bad car at all. Here are some pics

Specs: BMW North America

I Wouldn't pay $50,000 for that car where the new Z will be just as agile as the bimmer and $20,000 less
