Any fans of big Trucks here?

Hey guys just wondering if we had any truck fans on this site! If so lets use this as a place to talk about em, also post up what you have and what you use it for.

As you can see I have a Titan, and it is my work horse, that truck pulls 75% of the time and when its not towing something it generally has a load in the bed! I have also spent a lot of time ripping it apart and modding it in my quest to learn about vehicles and frankly I enjoy getting my hands dirty on a auto related projects. :driving:

Titan1080 03-08-2010 09:00 PM

Nice T! Mine's a bit shorter but I haven't stopped getting stuff for it despite having car payments again... You gonna go mod-crazy on the Z as well?

m4a1mustang 03-08-2010 09:05 PM

If they are kept off the road they are fine. We have a lot of rednecks that drive in from outside of the city in their lifted trucks... sure, it's cool out in the country, but watching these morons try to negotiate through parking lots and city streets is ridiculous... and unsafe, IMO.

If you've got wide open spaces, though, go for it!

Have you ever seen one of these things try to drive around here? It doesn't work.

Like I said... if your area has the space to accommodate you, go for it!

It's kind of like taking an AT4 to an indoor pistol range... it just doesn't fit.

That is a badass truck. I don't think it would fit in a lot of places around here. :icon18:

m4a1mustang 03-08-2010 09:14 PM

FWIW, I'm mainly bitching about the ones that have tires bigger than yours... that stick out much more.

StLRedrider 03-08-2010 09:17 PM

it's all good. these are actually 40's on there. but with the size of the truck they dont look as big. 40 x 20 x 13.5. i dont like the tires that stick out too far, looks like shitt!!!!!!

frost 03-08-2010 09:22 PM

I like big trucks, and they are much safer ... for the person in the truck http://www.the370z.com/images/smilies/bowrofl.gif

When I was in the market for my Z, I was actually thinking of going the truck route and almost waited for the 400hp svt raptor. I love my Z, bit watching these guys do 100+ in the desert looks like a blast

That 400hp and fox shocks makes that thing go through the desert like crazy. And I actually appreciate the engineering; instead of making it REALLY big (tall), they made a better shock that would take more impact, performing like many of the higher raised vehicles, but with much better handling.

Completely different truck than yours. Yours looks like it's made to pull the moon closer to the earth, that truck is all about desert carving.

One thing that always grinds my gears about big lifted pickups are guys that drive around with huge tires and no mudflaps! Even before I got the Z, I was always annoyed when a truck launched a small rock or general crap from the road that hits my truck's windshield, which ain't exactly low to the ground! Yeah, I've got a small lift and larger than stock tires but I kept my flaps on. Also, anyone else annoyed with big trucks and HID bulbs that either aren't aimed properly or are not housed in a proper projector assembly?:twocents:

We have that mudflap law here, but the cops can't catch every fish in the sea.

Titan1080 03-08-2010 09:52 PM

I think we have a law too, but for the most part, the only full-size trucks out here that have flaps are bone stock.

I have been in one and they are a hoot, They have multiple traction settings too, and active decent control, they are truly an amazing piece of engineering. My truck is currently set up with Radflo's coilovers which are pretty similar to the fox set up on the raptor, It is an awesome feeling to run through huge bumps at 40+ and not feel a thing.

Red!, your truck is sick man! I love how easy it is for a ford to stuff 40's! I had to go to 10 inches of lift just to get my 37's underneath the Titan.

The cops used to hound me for mudflaps, so then I bought my huge flaps you can see in my display pic and it blew up into a craze in my town, so many trucks have them now. They cops here are dic*s about mudflaps.

Oh and to answer your question about modding the Z, well lets just say I'm well on my way. I love modding vehicles myself because of what I learn in the process of doing it. Its very rewarding making your vehicle better or more personnal and learning something along the way.

Is that a 7.3 or a 6.0? And are you running a programmer.

I'm just going to assume that you have checked out what Spartan has been doing with the 6.4:happydance:

I actually almost bought a 6.4 p-stroke instead of my Z. If it wasn't for the fact that the new 6.7 powerstroke was about to come out I probably would have. :shakes head:

370zdub 03-08-2010 09:59 PM

haha I just put HIDS in the titan and I give a hole drivers the blinders all the time at night. My low beams are super low, but my high beams are set to kill.

If you've got wide open spaces, though, go for it!

In Utah pretty much everyone has big trucks so it's kinda the norm, I didn't realize what a pain in tight areas trucks like mine are until I bought the Z. None the less my Titan can still turn tighter than most stock trucks and it is fun to be able to be a bully on the road if I have someone hassling me.

I swear I never get cut off in my truck but I am constantly cut off in my Z. I think it is just the attitude of people in Utah that if your in a smaller car no matter how fast that car may be, they will just cut you off.

7.3 larger garrett turbo, 5"exhaust and a programable edge tunner stackable with a 100 hrp gain right now. if these tires wern't $600.00 a piece i could sit there and burn them off, no prob!!!!!!
