ok so couple questions i see u are doing kicks are you just sealing the speaker in the kick? if so how much airspace are you giving them? you do know even mids require certain amount of airspace. secondly since you are using ID and you KNOW i know my ID. how much airspace are you giving those subs? you got D2's? how do you plan on wiring the subs up to the amp? what ohm load? on the door speaker how far away is the speaker from the door? you do realize that if you leave a gap between the speaker and the panel it won't sound right? if you look at the factory speaker you'll see they had a spacer so that the sound from the speaker is directed towards the grill and not just firing into the door panel itself

horsemanwill 03-15-2010 10:57 PM

couple more questions. how are you aiming the mids? what freqs are you sending where? i noticed you got the req 5 and the dsp

bigaudiofanat 03-16-2010 09:17 AM

Not a req 5 plus the req and clean sweep are not needed. The stock unit has a nice flat low output signal that people recommend to use. 1 cubic foot per sub for the subs the first time I made the box I really did not know the math. Plus I suck at math but after I got a friend to look it over and how me what the correct size was. I trimmed it down. They will be running at 2 ohms as the amp is not stable at .5 ohms. The mids are aimed towards the driver in both cases and the fiberglass i seled. I understand they look small but there is plenty of space towards the lower end of the enclosure.

horsemanwill 03-16-2010 04:21 PM

so you have both mids aimed at the driver? what you may think is plenty of space to a mid may not be. most mids are designed to be ran IB in a door or if its in a kick the kick has to be fabbed a certain way so that there is enough air space in it for the mid. Have you contacted the company to see how much air space is needed for that mid yet?

bigaudiofanat 03-16-2010 04:55 PM

LOl no man and I do not plan to. Plenty of people run speakers in fiberglass pods. I do not see where there will be any problem. Plus mids like to have an enclosure they are not made to use an entire door as there box or enclosure.

bigaudiofanat 03-16-2010 04:58 PM

Sub box in and got the rca's wired to the proper wires.

well here's something i bet you didnt' know. most of the ppl that run kicks don't have the back completely sealed off they have it vented into the carpet or the firewall or the dead space behind the kick. remember i know alot more then you.

horsemanwill 03-16-2010 05:09 PM

matter of fact why dont' you do a lil test. build yourself a lil sealed box make it as small as possible. bout wat u think that kick is then listen to it. then build a bigger one and do the same thing. i promise you'll hear a huge difference.

and if you don't have the stuff to build a small and larger box. take a plastic bucket or bowl and glass it to make it stiffer and do that.

speedfreak28 03-16-2010 07:11 PM

You really do need more space for the kicks than that, i told you to put them in the door and go low with the midrange.

You do? You have 6 posts and I hardly know you. So I will have to try to take your word for it.

And as I stated he did not want to cut up his doors. It is not always about what the best placement is, its what the customer wants as well.

horsemanwill 03-16-2010 08:00 PM

wait a minute you hardly know me? really is that why your on my aol? and why you've seen my posts on ca.com? and you KNOW i'm a mod at the iD forum? and why you've came to me with questions? so you really want to play dumb and lie to all these ppl that "trust" you with their vehicles?

bigaudiofanat 03-16-2010 08:13 PM

If I know you it is not from this forum. You only have 7 posts on this forum so I am not familiar with your user name on HERE. Lie to people? I do not think so.

horsemanwill 03-16-2010 08:31 PM

i use the same username everywhere come on man don't play dumb

bigaudiofanat 03-16-2010 08:37 PM

I am not I do not pay attention to user names that much. You want to play games go ahead. Not trying to be a jerk just do not like playing games.

speedaudio64 03-20-2010 10:29 PM

Simply put man, SICK keep up the great work. Take your time and do it right "as you are doing"

bigaudiofanat 03-21-2010 12:28 PM

Today has been a bit busy, my father was suppose to deploy for Iraq today but after getting there and waiting 2 hours they had to delay it until tomorrow. Just got back home and will try to get a few things done today even though 5 hours was killed. Just a bit off subject but here is me and him.

http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...0321101017.jpg

bigaudiofanat 03-21-2010 08:20 PM

To be honest did not get much done today. Between this morning and having to study for a math test tomorrow coming back from spring break, I got a few things done.

Got the left kick panel started and the right one starting the paining.

Oh yeah, glad the car is automatic.........no room for a clutch pedal with those kicks

PapoZalsa 03-21-2010 10:05 PM

WOW, are you getting in audio competition?

s

If you go with mdf and water hits that they will swell up like a sponge. Plywood is much better to go with for a floor. Subs are clear from the floor the plywood does not even get close to the woofer.

Yesterday and today starting to finish things up.

Power wire ran
http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...l/100_1827.jpg

iPod cables ran, one is for video and audio the other is for just audio and can be controlled threw the head unit.
http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...l/100_1828.jpg

Left kick panel going to require some work but will get it done. The hood release and all is a pain to work around.
http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...l/100_1830.jpg

Wrapped the right panel.

Just a note the metal grill will be put overtop of the speakers.

bigaudiofanat 03-27-2010 10:43 AM

Got the mat laid on the left panel today will sand it bondo and carpet it.
http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...l/100_1833.jpg
The trunk got wrapped, the top lip where the indent starts will be shaved for the plexi glass. That is why the carpet there is not defined cleanly.

He was very happy with the car, very impressed with the audio aspect of it as well "as was I". In two weeks he will drop off the kick panels and the door panels for the speakers to get molded into the doors for more foot room.
