I bet it is a sweet ride based on how well I loved the BMW M240i xDrive. Need to see it in person in regard to the aesthetics, but I probably won’t buy even though I have been interested in it. The BMW M240i xDrive seems more compelling now.

I've been tracking the ft1 supra for years. If I knew it was going to have a crappy bmw engine I wouldnt have even thought twice. Mercedes engines may be a step up from bmw for reliability BUT that's missing the point.

In that sense i do agree.... I would've rather seen a 3jz... But we're in a place where we are losing affordable sports cars. At least it's an entry and hopefully it will do well? If it does well maybe toyota may want to make a 3jz. For now the car is nice. It looks like it's worth what it goes for.

Have you driven one? They are faster than the flat 6 they replace (although they don't sound nearly as nice).

Guessing that's the way of the world, so good on Toyota for putting a 6 in this car.
They pretty much had to. 3,500 lbs???? WTF???

I really dont care about the price. Toyota dropped the ball when they didn't make the supra manual. That's why a lot of ppl are upset. A 50k car with only 335hp and not only that, it is auto, shoot, might as well save up some more and get yourself an m4 or the new audi rs5 or even the z06. I'm just happy that companies like Porsche, BMW and Chevy are still making their sports car manual.

:iagree: No manual = no go for me.

Approximately 50% of the BMW M2's sold in the USA are manual trans. Many car enthusiasts who prefer manuals, will definitely be ordering the BMW version and not even think twice about getting the Toyota.

Here's a comparison between the 1998 and the 2020

Although I have absolutley no plans to trade in my Z for a Supra, I was really looking forward to it's new release................ until now.

I had absolutely no back information on this car when I first saw it. I immediatly thought: "why does this thing look so much like a BMW?" Now I know why.

I truly don't understand why Toyota would rely on another manufacturer to produce a car that has such a rich history and has been anticipated by the car community for over 20 years. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think this was a serious mistake. Mistake number 2: it only comes mated to an automatic transmission. Clearly they aren't listening to enthusiasts.

Just my $0.02

CRiZO 01-16-2019 10:13 PM

So much cheaper, faster, better balanced, lower center of gravity, better tech, and safer than the previous Supra. Why did they bother?

Did you know 50% of people who buy the M2 prefer it in auto?

:drama:

And you know what's funny? The '20 Subaru Sti will be faster and will probably cost less :rofl2: the sad thing is, just another loud sti you see on the street driven by teens

CRiZO 01-17-2019 12:06 AM

Honestly, I hardly see sti's anymore. What's up with that? I saw a really clean one today and thought to myself "I don't think I've seen another sti in months". They were so popular in their bugeye days.

I live in Miami but fly to Orlando for work business every two weeks and I see more sti's or wrx's in Orlando than in Miami. In Miami you will see more high-end cars than in Orlando. Seen at least 5 type R's in Orl and only 1 in Miami

Yup.
But 50% for a manual transmission is a stellar number for any car unless it’s and incredibly low volume seller. Four people will always want a stick shift. The rest want to drive fast!

Really looks like to more aggressive 86/BRZ. Not impressed.

I expected more....with such a heritage as the Supra. Not a bad vehicle by any means I just personally expected more...
