How America Falls For Corporate Brainwashing!!!

No Extra Charge For A Six-Speed Manual On The New Porsche 911 GT3 [32 Images]

The above article tells you Porsche NOT charging EXTRA for the manual.

Here's where people believe the hype and fail to smell the bullshyt. On a regular carrera, there's about a $4500 premium for a PDK give or take a couple hundred bucks.

So in reality you're paying a $4,500 premium for a manual. Lol. Reee dickyou lie

And don't you have to get on a list for Porsche approval of the GT3 Manual? I'll take the PDK.

BlackZeda 03-14-2017 11:30 AM

Porschenomics

Cayman's $60K list price = $100K if you want a Porsche-like interior

LMAO...I here you on the "non-mark up!" I bought a brand new Ford F350 Powerstroke 4x4 back when they first hit the market in 1995. I had it built the way I wanted and opted for manual locking hubs because the electronic one's were garbage back then. The fleet manager laughed and said that is going to cost you more because it is an upgrade since all there 4x4s come with electronic hubs. I laughed too and paid for the upgrade...same thing applies here!

I often wonder how much fun a Porsche 911 GT3 can actually be on the street? You have 500HP but you have to shove 373lbs of torque through 7 gears & 9,000rpm? I am trying to process this in my head. In street driving, wouldn't this car feel completely torqueless?

It really seems like a track only engine on a street car?? Maybe someone here has test driven a GT3?

I have, my neighbor had a 2012. And yes, it almost seemed torqueless. I had one fairly tender lap driving at Sebring, you had to give it the beans ALL the time. Dont get me wrong its brutally quick in the right hands, but as a daily, Ive often had my reservations.

I was lucky enough to get some hot laps in a GT3RS driven by the local Porsche dealership owner (old school mate) last summer. He is an excellent driver, and man that thing was quick around the track. But my impression was also that it needs to be on the racetrack, and driven all out. I'm not sure you get your money's worth out of it if you don't, but do you want to put a car you just spent that much money on in harm's way like that? Definitely a decision well above my pay grade!

DCNISMO 03-14-2017 04:25 PM

a GT3 or GT3RS is meant for the track, so sure putting around on the street it might feel down on power, but go ask the shop in KC if its gutless, since one go their techs was able to spin one out and hit brick wall and pretty much destroy it. I've had two CTSV's and now on my second 911 C4S. The V will no doubt pull on an open road with torque....but on a twist road the 911 eats it up. IF you want both....go test drive a 997 Twin Turbo......that is one insane car, with all the power and handling you need. Its scary fast. Al,lost like a liter sport bike, its very hard to find a place to legally have fun with it....unless you re on a track. want some REAL fun....go try a 911 GT2 or forbid a GT2RS......its a widowmaker

I'm looking at the 991.2 GTS. I think the new turbo engines are what the doctor ordered for Porsche... I wish the car itself had more drama to the looks for the money. I'm dying for the GTS reviews to hit. I like what I hear about the 991.2 carreras. The GTS should really be perfection and the best all round value.

Jalopnik concurs with my Porsche Rant.

Actually, Porsche Is Charging You 'More' For A Manual 911 GT3

FABSPEED exhaust!!

Putting some sound into the muted 991.2. Sounds very nice!!

I have driven a 991 GT3 on the street and the car is still plenty fun. It feels like it makes more torque than it does. My guess because of the great gearing and the car is relatively light. The 458 italia only makes like 20 more ft lbs don't see people saying that's not a fun street car?

NA power > boost and that's coming from a guy with a boosted Z. I have driven a 458 plenty and was able to get behind the wheel of the 488 once and while that car is WAY faster I enjoyed the powertrain of the 458 more. :twocents:

Its fun to go to Rennlist on the 991 GT3/GT3RS/R forums and see the angst about getting the new manual GT3, as it appears the dealers are already gouging a bit and only getting small allocations for them. So one again speculation and insults reign supreme. But like crackheads they will fight over it. Then the so-called last manual 997 GT3 owners are now fretting that they will no longer to be able to say they have the last manual GT3 ever made...then it devolves into electric steering versus hydraulic steering and other silly things. And I say this as a owner of a 997.2 C4S.

You cant keep those guys happy.

The last REAL Porsche was the 993

The last REAL Porsche was the 997

They complained about no manual in the 991.1 GT3 and Porsche listened. Now you have the other half (997 GT3 owners) complaining that they are offering a manual. :rofl2: The same guy who owns the 991.1 GT3 has an allocation for a 991.2 6MT car. Cant wait to get behind the wheel of it.

DCNISMO 03-16-2017 10:06 AM

They really never are happy, guess it's the pressure of being a bond trader, techie, or corporate raider or heart or neurosurgeon that can afford to buy a new GT3, yet always wanting more more more. When I drive my soon to be 8 year old 911, I'm happy as growing up in WV.....we never even saw a 911. Lots of GT3's just sit....get sold with low miles and get leaks from the seals drying out and needing major service to fit things like that.

Now that is a sad thing. Cars are meant to be driven. Especially a car of that caliber. I would love to have a GT2 911.

triso07 06-02-2017 07:44 AM

I never thought about GT3s being difficult to enjoy on the street. You just hear that motor rev to 9k and it sounds so intoxicating. Truth is the standard C2 or C4s is probably all you need, with the turbo being the overkill model.

With the GT3 offering manual again I wonder if the 997 version will finally come down in price.

DCNISMO 06-03-2017 04:08 PM

Well the 911R guys are worked up since they thought they had the last version of that motor with the manual. Rumor has a club sport thing will be an option that will be a GT3 but not wing in the back. That's got them worked up too. Its fun to watch the angst.

triso07 06-04-2017 05:49 AM

They don't have too much to worry about if they hold onto those cars. They only made 991 of them so it will likely appreciate over time. Unless they bought in at a ridiculously high price.

DCNISMO 06-04-2017 05:38 PM

I know but hedge fund guys and corporate raiders need something to worry about

With the wingless GT3 coming out. It already devalues the 911R some. It's pretty hilarious if you ask me. A bunch of morons paid 10x over value to have an exclusive 911 that is no longer exclusive. The 911R seemed like a waste of cash to me from jump. It was a GT3 RS in a GT3 body without a wing and a manual. Paying extra for a mosh mash of a cheaper car. Lol.

Great hustle Porsche.
