I can't say I'm surprised. Cars just cost so damn much to develop these days. But yeah, obviously Nissan is going the same route as they did with the z34 and z33. The only way I could see them going the route of a proprietary platform is if there was a cheap base model that they intend on selling many thousands of. But even that doesn't sound so compelling. I bought my Z bcause I don't see 50-100 of them everyday, like I do with the mustang.

It's moments like these I wish Nissan wasn't a publicly traded company, where they were hellbent on maximizing profits, year after year.

I dunno... Just look at the Z34 price point. We already know (or suspect) the 400hp TT setup is coming. Now add Brembos on top and whatever other improvements we want to see over the Z34, shiiiiiiet... We might be asking for a car that really does hit the 60k mark. Would you be willing to pay that price?

I'm secretly hoping Nissan pulls a magic card out of their *** and gives us the car [most] of us want, at a price [most] of us are willing to pay, but I guess time will tell if it actually hits the mark.

You're right in saying that GM and Ford added nice brakes, in addition to a ton of power and pretty nice handling suspensions (or at least way nicer than they did in the past), but one thing they didn't give a crap about was weight- the Z34 uses extensive amounts of aluminum and Nissan did their best to keep the weight down... That in itself isn't cheap. So which would you prefer? I doubt Nissan will give us everything.

Agreed, but one can hope. The Camero was also put on a diet and is not as heavy as it was now that it has a aluminum frame. My car with me and a full tank of fuel are 3450 lbs.

Nissan has us by the short hairs and they know it because even with the cars short comings there are no real competitors as been said over and over. I love my z, I was the only one a the track one this past weekend and the professional photographer that was the only one that take and sale pictures took 47 pictures of my car over the weekend. When my buddy asked her why she took so many pictures of it, she said because it's different and it's fast. I like taking pictures of the unique cars!

I own several vehicles(2 Nissans:33&34 ,a vintage Lotus,L Rover,Kia Soul for utility use).

The original KIA GT Stinger looked fantastic-live near the U.S. Kia plant.

However,as would have it,a concept most times does not make it into production.
The latest Stinger pics I have seen look--like everything else out there-disapointed!

Akebonos

How long before z35 guys are swapping z33 Brembos in? :D

At this point, I wish Nissan would just hurry the hell up and get the z35 out. By the time it does come out, the power train will already be several years old, so I wonder what they'll do to keep it fresh. It sounds like the concept will come out this fall, and then what, another year before its for sale? Sigh.

probably summer 2018 -19 when they start hitting dealer lots with huge markups, so if you want a car with all the bugs worked out and no dealer mark up you are looking at 2021 at the earliest.

For what ever reason ever Japanese mfg is getting out of the low cost sports car market. (I suspect is has to do with future global emissions regulations not allowing for a lot of people buying high performance cars) The KIA stinger looks great BUT the pricing is way up there, 33k starting for the 2.0L, for the fully loaded version I was told, at the NY Auto show, close to 50k. I think also it's a fatty weighing in at 4k lbs won't make it a good turner.

I didn't know u could get an award for signal light design. Lol
Well Kia got one. Hyundai is rated best headlights in the biz. Go figure.

It's no secret they're trying to be the pioneers of soulless EV cars... so, they don't want to put money into costly sports car R&D. If you look at it. At minimum Toyota is working with other companies to absorb the cost of putting out a sports car.

Nissan lamo's help Mercedes with their suspension in cars like the A45amg and the amg gts/gtr. Instead of building sports cars with Benz, in turn Nissan makes sport crossovers.

Bitches... they make me sick already.
