2017 Corvette Grand Sport!!

2017 Corvette Grand Sport unveiling at the 2016 Geneva auto show

This is what I consider, the corvette to own. More than enough useable power with all the features of the Z06. I'm sure much lighter without the supercharger. A lower-priced tag than the Z06 doesn't hurt.

This is the car I've been waiting for. I didn't expect GM to do it for another couple years but it's here. Already have my name on a list to get this car. Unless Nissan does something soon with a new Z this will be my next car.

I think this one is it boys.... this and hopefully a next gen turbo Z. I don't think I need 650hp. They just seem like unreliable cars IMHO. I have more faith in this LT1. The vette is already a beast at 460hp. N/A parts and a tune would get it up to 540hp. That's plenty of TORQUEY naturally aspirated power to have some serious fun!!!

DarkJak 03-14-2016 06:12 PM

Unless Nissan can wow with the next gen Z, I think this is my ideal step up from the 370.

Less expensive than the Z06, with what should be a more reliable engine making more balanced levels of power.
Now I just hope that GM gives a hefty discount for having the base engine instead of the SC'd V8.

I wouldn't expect more than $8,000 to $10,000 as a discount. If we're lucky? $13,500. But I doubt it. Especially if purchasing the on board camera which I'll opt out of the Big Brother option. Lol

Top Corvette Dealer makes educated pricing prediction.

Base Grand Sport $68,995 that sounds reasonable.
But I'm sure the fully tricked out one will hit $83,000

Chevrolet Cars, Trucks, SUVs, Crossovers and Vans

Chevy is claiming a 0-60 in 3.6 seconds on the GS. Pretty impressive when you consider weight to hp by comparison of other cars. Identical to the 550hp Jaguar F-Type R. Which starts at $105,000 and people are guesstimating $68,900 for a corvette. I'm impressed.

Corvette grand sport charity auction

2017 C7 Corvette Grand Sport Priced | GM Authority

So amazing.... a $66,500 grand sport is priced perfectly within the segment it's playing in. Truly a performance bargain. And the body treatments make this car beautiful. I can't get around the blandness of the base corvettes profile. These small treatments really wake this car up. When you add the Z06 suspension. This car becomes the best bang for buck under $70,000

Chevrolet Corvette Loyalty Discount Program | GM Authority

I wonder if it would apply to a GS pre-order???

b1adesofcha0s 05-12-2016 11:10 PM

Of course this thing gets announced a month after I buy mine. Well I decided to buy used anyways, so I guess it's not too bad. The aero parts are the same as those for the Z06, which I planned on adding to mine anyway. The wider wheels would have been nice, but not absolutely needed over the Z51 wheels.

This is the model to get over the Z06 if you plan on tracking it a lot. All the performance upgrades without the potential overheating issues caused by the SC. The availability of the Z07 pkg is what really makes the GS such a great deal. The carbon ceramic brakes alone are worth more than the package cost itself. Got a ride in a C7 Z06 w/ Z07 pkg at ZDayZ last year and those brakes are mind blowingly good.

If you want to go the cheaper route, you can buy a used Z51 and just add the aero parts afterwards and the wheels if you want them. Gives you more money to buy mods......like this exhaust I bought :)

I would never buy a Vette new. Ever.

You'll be able to snag one of these grand sport Vettes for $50k in 2-3 years. I guarantee it. That's also the depreciation threshold where it's an incredible sports car value and a great time to jump on one.

They're awesome sports cars, but they're still a GM product.

I think it's going to take a little longer than that based on what I've seen with used C7 prices the last few years. Completely base GS might hit $50k in 3 years at the very low end. If you want any other options though it's probably going to be more around $55-60k. As far as it being a GM product, this is not the same GM from years ago. They have made massive improvements in quality and you can really see the difference with the C7.

You could really make that same argument for any car though. It's always better financially to buy a 2-3 year old used car than it is to buy new, unless you really need the warranty and/or any free maintenance included.

There are many improvements from GM, but the same idiosyncrasies are still there. There's still some of that GM stigma in terms of dealing with recalls and uncooperative dealerships, fighting for warranty coverage and small quality control issues like you would find in Hyundai. Not taking away credit from GM, the likelihood of me buying a GM product is 10x higher than say 2 years ago. More likely to buy a GM car than another Nissan if I was buying out of the Z/GTR lineup. My eye is on the GS and the mid engines vette. But not without reservation in certain areas.

UNKNOWN_370 05-14-2016 10:55 AM

GM DOES IT AGAIN!!!

The mid engine vette that was said to be a $150,000 car when it comes out, will be released in 20!8 as a $80,000 car, completely decimating any reason to buy a Ford GT. So I'm guessing it's Z06 versions of the mid engine will be $110,000 and it's GS about $95,000. The Germans, Italians and Asians all have to worry. Especially if for a few G's more GM adds AWD... WHAAAAT????!!!

Rest in peace NSX

You have those kind of issues with almost every car though. I have only had mine for a little over 3 months, but I haven't noticed any issues like that yet. There was a very minor memory seat TSB that the dealer fixed with a software update in under an hour and for free. Other than that it's been perfectly fine.

I would take those rumors with a big grain of salt. Don't believe those rumors until you actually hear something from GM themselves. The mid engine corvette rumors have literally been coming out for decades now.

Rusty 05-14-2016 03:18 PM

Look for down sized motors with turbo's from everyone starting in 2017, and a lot of the bigger motors to be gone from the line-ups in 2018. That's to the feds.

V8's will live with GM. Their v8 reaches 29mpg .
Plus they're the v6 and turbo that hits wellover 30mpg
The fuel effociency of GM probably supersedes 90% of all car companies.

I feel you. For some it's gonna take a while. I'm a former GM owner. I'm loving it like crazy but I'm a skeptic. Truth be told electric steering has hindered me from purchasing anything. I DESPISE THAT NEW TECHNOLOGY with all my guts. It's made sports cars lifeless. 30% of the sensory experience is gone. It outages me. And the media can't brainwash me into believing it's as good as hydraulic. I drive hydraulic every day. I know what I'm missing out on the second I drive electric steering cars.

Yeah my C7 is giving me a little better mileage than my Z did even with 2 extra cylinders, +130 hp, +200 tq. The rest of GM's lineup will help bring the avg mpg up across the brand.

It's my first GM car and I have no real complaints yet. In terms of driving experience, the car is phenomenal. Gonna have tons of fun with I at ZDayZ next week.
