Negative, just because camera angle favors you, doesn't mean you won. That first race was a dead tie, you did win the second race, bad launch on my part. But don't forget the next 3 races where I dusted you!!!

Oh ValidusVentus I did some research. The Motorola Channel 5-3 that my long range Kenwoods are hard coded to is 462.6625 MHz GMRS/FRS Interference Eliminator Code (privacy code) 3. If your radios do not have the option to choose an Interference Eliminator Code (privacy code) then you will not be able to tx/rx on the same channel.

Interesting... thanks for the info. Just did a little looking into it. They do have DCS and CTCSS (privacy code) ability -I think the Interference Eliminator Codes are just a certain combination of these- and in fact have the ability to scan for active DCS and CTCSS "channels" so it should be able to scan and match whatever is thrown at it. In theory, and assuming I can make it work!

I used the scan feature and was able to have comms with the other guys radios last week after we were done. Not sure if they were using privacy codes at that point. Were yours talking with everyone elses? If so I think we are good and we have 2 more radios.

Yes, CTCSS = Interference Eliminator Code (or privacy code). From what I read however, scanning will not find it, you have to manually tune it to 3. So you should be able to set yours to 462.6625 CTCSS-3. Yes, mine talk with everyone else's, when set to (motorola) 5-3

They actually can scan for active DTS codes and CTCSS tones (suprisingly). Once it has identified them I should be able switch to them easily. Just printed out the manual ;) But since you found the CTCSS code I need already -thx btw- this should be a piece of cake either way.

BAOFENG UV-5RE+ Dual Band Ham Radio <- amazon link, not the manual

They are a PITA to program though.
