Can someone explain to me why is there such a difference between the advertise HP and what a Dyno test shows for a 370z.

.....because the powertrain components connecting the motor to the wheels create resistance/friction, which in turn creates a loss in hp to the wheels. The advertised hp is at the flywheel and correctly measures the output of the motor itself. This is usually measured before the motor is installed in the car using an engine dyno. A wheel Dyno is used to calculate gains or loss in hp from a baseline pull, not measure max hp as most people think. It's to give you a fairly accurate reading to see if your modifications or tune is creating or losing power/torque. You also can't rely on wheel Dyno numbers alone since each Dyno is different and the hp readings can vary greatly based on temperature and altitude. This is why you try to shoot for the same conditions using the same shop.

Default Should have

Thanks it all seems so obvious now when someone explains it. I check out horsepower on cable and I see them testing the engine on the dyno the way you mentioned.... feel like such a rookie!!!!! thanks again for taking the time to explain.
