I needed room for the recaro babt seat...and still have some power
|
Cant believe you guys are all getting rid of your Z's. I'm keeping mine and have no plans at all to get rid of her. She has been totally flawless up to this point and puts a huge smile on my face everytime I drive her. Its also a 6spd maybe thats why? :stirthepot::stirthepot:

This is making me real sad. Goes to show 3 pedals are more fun :stirthepot:

I think another factor is whether or not people have a DD. If you have a slower less fun DD then the Z retains its excitement more. If you DD your sports car, yea its awesome but you get used to it, and bored of it more quickly. I drove a friend's acura TL this weekend for a while on a little trip. It was slow, needed struts, and the rotors were warped. After a few hours of driving that my Z felt like an F1 car :driving: |

Whats the plan for a new DD? |
^ BMW of course bahahaha
|
I'm glad I have two cars to drive (three if I include my mother's 09 Golf heh).

My girlfriend is picking up her 335xi Coupe today with iDrive. Oddly enough, I actually did come across a lot of 6MTs in that guise while searching.

I find it funny how the MT crew seizes every opportunity to talk **** on AT drivers. You have to be pretty delusional to think that someone would get rid of a 30K investment just because it's "not fun". How about it's not cheap? Life happens and you have to get rid of toys, pushing a stick from one gear to another is the difference between keeping a 30k car and not? Are you really that stubborn? I'm 100% sure that every person that got rid of their Z did it for other reasons than the car being AT. It's a 2 seater summer sports car, not the most practical thing for NYC. I loved my Z until the very last drive to the dealership, never had an issue with it, and it never got boring to me. Realistically, unless your Z is fully paid off, or youre already settled in life... you will sell your Z. Kids come around, houses come around, and then your Z no longer holds that much value in life. People don't buy cars just to have fun, you can have fun for a lot cheaper than the monthly payments for a Z... escorts for example.

Can't we all just get along? At this rate each group of owners is going to park in their different corner of the parking lot scowling at each other for owning a Z/owning a BMW/Driving manual/ Driving automatic. Maybe we should focus on being car enthusiasts regardless of form.
Besides, the way things stand now it's hard enough to get people to come out to the meets lol |
Yep.
And the 7AT on the 370Z is a badass transmission too - shifts quick and the paddle shifters feel great. Btw, in my last comment, I wasn't implying people sold their 370Zs because they were AT. Just found it coincidental so many were. |

I'm just visiting though, I live in MD. You guys still meet up at PM on Saturdays? I would either be driving down Friday night or Saturday morning. Not sure if I will be able to make it there. If anyone wants to meet up that Sunday or Monday I'm down. I'll know more once time gets closer. |
I'm buying a POS car to drive during the winter.... Not even sure how much I'll be driving than, but a new Z is here and aint going anywhere (for at least 2 years LOL).

I'm keeping mine till I can get a GT-R :driving: |

You should hit up the Great Neck meets now with your Xterra towing your boat
|
haha. i'm defintely still going to show up to these meets.
cant decide between Xterra or Pathfinder '08-'10, however. Boat wont be bought till next April or so though. |
My dad has a pathfinder. Interior is much nicer than the Xterra, but it's horrible on gas. Also a bit more expensive too. Nice truck though.
|
Why not just get a Murano? Better looks, interior, drive and I think even better MPG.
Either way, I think selling the 370Z and getting a truck won't help with buying a house. $100 less on a car payment doesn't go a long way when your mortgage will be $2000-2500. And on top of that, you'll end up pissing all of your savings on fuel anyways. Believe, my friend did the same crap - got himself a Tundra and regrets it everyday. He's selling it now. If you want some money, sell your mods. You'll get a few thousand for them and just enjoy the car as it is with the drop. |

well i would need a bigger truck than a murano for towing capacity. the pathfinder can do 6000 lbs (which is cutting it close), however if/when i get a boat next spring, im going to need a larger vehicle. I take the train to work everyday, so gas isnt really my primary concern.
regardless, i only have one car (the Z), so i will have to buy another one for the winter, and i dont want 2 cars for now, no room, thus it will be easier to just sell it and get one all arounder. |
So your selling the Z to get a boat? :icon14:
|
not entirely. Im selling it because I need one vehicle that can do it all, that i dont have to worry so much about.
Im going to have to pay to garage the Z for the winter + get a new car for the winter, and etc. Just more convenient at 22 yrs old to have one car. |
You can drive the Z in the winter. Just don't drive it when it's snowing and accumulating - otherwise once the roads are plowed, it's not a big deal, really. I had winter tires on my 350Z and they drove spectacular in the winter and even in snow. It's especially not a big deal if you just get a cheap set of winter tires. I picked up a used set for $400 - with over 80% tread all around.
Keep the Z. Not entirely sure why you want a boat, though? |
I've driven my Z through snow before and will do it again this winter. Hell I bought ky Z during a snowstorm :p
Got All Season tires all around now so shouldn't have any issues. I'm the same as you, 21 and only need 1 car. Exception is that I don't need to tow anything so the Z is fine for me. |
