Hmmmm... 2021 they say... well I assume the new models should be in transit or close to it to hit showrooms this August/September. :ugh2:

PS - Hotrod's and Rusty's Test Mule is featured again.

2nd paragraph says it all.

Yup. Unfortunately, it is looking more and more like the Z will be killed off on May 28th :(

But hopefully that's just in Europe :driving:

[OFFICIAL] Discussion for the next new Z35?

That article is actually one of the better rumor mill articles I’ve read. Whoever wrote it seems to be more informed of the Z’s history than the others that just spout off random information. Hopefully we will know more on the 28th. Let’s just cross our fingers that they don’t completely kill off their sports cars. IMO that would be a bad marketing plan as Nissan won’t have any vehicles to draw excitement to the brand. Sports cars have never really been a money maker for the market. Hopefully Nissan realizes this and at least attempts to launch a new Z to see how it will fare. If they do, they better come out swinging though. Other automakers have come out with A LOT since the 370z was launched, which left the 370z in the rear view (figuratively and literally).

I really like it! I'd buy one!

The big issue here is IF Nissan will actually introduce a next gen Z car given their current financial condition.

I'd be all over that. Which means it will never happen.

:shakes head: So true...

I am amused by people thinking Nissan is really gonna release a low-volume, $35-50k sports car during an economic down turn when it is already bleeding money.

A money losing car during money losing times when you're on a money losing streak would be fantastic

I know this is not a Supra or Toyota thread but the story behind that car is relevant. Toyota, which is much more successful financially than Nissan, deemed it economically unfeasible to develop its own RWD drivetrain and platform to the point it needed to partner with BMW for most of the engineering and for basically all of the manufacturing.

It could not do the 86 by itself either, partnering with Subaru for R&D and production.

so . . . how is Nissan, looking to slash sales targets and production costs, gonna produce a new Z again?

Just sell me the VR30 carb legal swap kit. Only dev cost is emissions and some packaging ****, the engine and tranny already exist

****, a Z34 with a VR30 and a six speed would be more fun and cheaper than the fuckin supra anyways

Interesting, Renault seems to be letting nissan actually take over when it comes to the North American market

this seems bad:

https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/27/busin...nce/index.html

Nissan, which reports financial results for fiscal year 2019 on Thursday, has endured four straight quarters of declining profits. Operating profit fell to 54.3 billion yen ($504 million) for the three months ended in December, plunging 83% from the same quarter a year before.

Nissan needs to come out with a new car, and has to hit a home run it right off the bat.

imjello 05-27-2020 07:16 PM
