Took the car to the Dealership
They were already familiar with this issue. They were going to change it to DOT 4 Fluid but they didn't have any in stock. They said the issue was the O-Ring and Master Cylinder causing the problem. They skipped over the replacing fluid step and contacted my warranty.
My aftermarket Toyota Warranty approved of the fix and the parts will be ready to replace in a week. Total cost so far: $0 How much would this have cost me? |
Also in Texas, having same problem
Today it happened in 40 degree weather. 2013 model with less than 12k miles on it. This morning I almost couldn't get the car in reverse. This is the car's second winter, didn't have this problem in first winter.
As described by others, no issues after car warms up. |

I'm also in Austin. What dealership did you use? |

Town North is completely incompetent, although I sometimes buy parts from them because they are convenient. They did work on my Z without my permission when I stopped by for some diagnostics. My purchase experience with South Point wasn't too bad, but the service I experienced was sorely lacking. The first oil change was free, but I brought my own oil, magnetic drain plug, and K&N reusable intake air filters for them to install. All of these products were untouched and still in the car when I got it back. To make matters worse, they tried to deny it when I asked about it. Worst service manager ever. I have never been back. I don't use dealerships for anything other than warranty work now. Anything I'm not comfortable working on myself, I either get help from a friend or pay a quality shop (like Colvin Automotive) to do it right. |

I either go to Town North or RR Nissan. I going to Town North more because they are back to 1st come 1st serve. Since I got nearly a full warranty, I am only going to dealerships. My 370Z is bone stock, I just change the fluids when told too. Overall I am satisfied with both: B+ |

I went to Town North over a year ago to check on a light that came on the instrument panel. I now know that the cause was low brake fluid level coupled with hard acceleration. However, they did a brake fluid flush without even consulting me and then had the gall to argue with me about who should pay for it. The service manager's response when I said I should not be responsible for the work: "Did it solve the problem?" I couldn't help but laugh and then retort, "It doesn't matter. I'm not paying for work I didn't authorize." |
the GTR brake fluid is $45 a quart at nissan encase anyone wanted to know.

Fixed.....but
If the part wore out in 40K wouldn't it wear out again?

It looked like the scs part everyone was describing. The Mechanic was showing me the old part where air can get in.

Good for you if you got it taken care of under warranty. My plan is to replace the stock CSC with the heavy duty Z1 CSC the first time I need to have any transmission work done. |
