I was having issues in >95deg weather. Might make some diff though, my spoiler is ginormous so I suspect mine would start acting up sooner rather than later.

just get the springs, youll be glad you did, youll be able to put this issue behind you and forget about it...your nissan dealer should open a work ticket for this, so you would be covered down the line...though doubt youll need to worry...

Interesting. I did the 3 penny fix on 31 August (http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...tml#post180708) and it has worked flawlessly ever since. I have a Touring model but not the Sport package. I wonder if the difference in hatch weight (no spoiler on mine) is the reason?

I had the Nismo S-Tune spoiler put on about a week after having the car. It came with new pistons for the hatch, al biet for the additional weight on the hatch with the spoiler. I didn't have issues that 1st week prior to adding the spoiler, but ever since the hatch won't fully open unless I pull up on the spoiler at the same time.

has to be the added wait of the spoiler...

I have noticed that on cooler mornings the release doesn't work at all but when the car warms up, a little later in the day, it works fine. I feel sure it has something to do with the ambient temp as well as the extra weight of the spoiler. I'm going for the longer spring lift. I feel certain it will fix the problem.

eww slightly push down on the hatch while popping or lift with the tips of your fingers between the hatch and bumper. don't lift on the spoiler

well...here we go again. Now, the serv mgr I "thought" was being cooperative says Nissan doesn't know of this fix (the longer spring) and they can't recommend anything. That, my friends, is an unacceptable response. Now, I'm going to push to have them replace the current short springs, the latch assembly and the lift shocks since they all have something to do with the hatch opening. I have no idea why the hatch won't open as it should (other than the spoiler adding weight to the hatch and the short springs that are used in the regular coupe and with the sport package) so the only thing I have any confidence in is replacing ALL the parts to see if that will remedy the problem. This whole thing is getting rather silly. Oh, BTW, another call to Nissan NA (the fifth call in two weeks) and no return call. I'm becoming very disillusioned with whole situation. My worry is how will Nissan handle a big problem if and when it comes up. :icon14:

Nissan Canada replaced my springs - I'd like to say no questions asked (I had about five people ask me what the problem was each time I talked to someone different even after the parts had been ordered in) but I never ran up against any resistance. Even getting service from a dealership different from where I bought the car. What I did was walk into the Service department with the part number for the longer spring. I told them the hatch wasn't opening properly and the fix was to use the longer spring. They checked with the service manager and ordered in the new springs. It takes a grand total of 10 seconds to change both sides. Tell the dealership you're dealing with here's the simple fix or do whatever you want to do but fix it because its broken.

Glad you had a good experience...that has not been the case here. I've been to the dealership I bought the Z from and another I didn't...neither would acknowledge the fix we KNOW works and Nissan has no response. It's sad...I am considering buying the springs myself (so I can get into the back of my Z) but feel Nissan needs to acknowledge the problem, fix and pay for it.

Took mine in yesterday, managed to replicate it in front of them and it kept happening for the service tech too. They searched for any mention of this from Nissan, but as we know there isn't any. So they have ordered me new springs, I asked if they were different ones and they said yes, so waiting to see what arrives now. Will keep you posted.
