Steering wheel wear

Just bought an 09 370. Noticed that that the steering wheel leather is flaking off and has been worn down quite a bit.

Anyone have any experience with this. I am wondering if this is a warranty issue.

Basically if I rub a spot on the wheel black flakes come off.

Thanks

I doubt that it's covered under warranty. I'm guessing the previous owner had sweaty palms.

I recently took my car in after noticing small cracks in the steering wheel leather. The dealer said they'd replace it once for me. That's all I wanted. Got a new wheel.

If it's had a lot of use and has been exposed to a lot of sun then that's just normal wear. Probably a good excuse to send it off to get it re-wrapped with CF and alcantara or leather. :p

Showed it to dealer they advised first owner prob wore a lot of lotion or sunscreen. They are going to replace it under warranty though !!

Good to hear it all worked out. Previous owner probably did not take care of the leather at all.
