To be honest the 7AT's have been very reliable, And issues have been rare not that they won't fail but pretty good up to now.

I will definantly use this when talking to the repair and insurance guys.

There were 09s left over late into 2010. So it could be only a year old and transmission problems within a year of a 60 month 100k powertrain warranty I'd call it new too.

well you insurance is already charging you for a 150 mph car and if you weren't going that speed then Nissan shouldn't be able to say that you were abusing the car.

I ordered mine jan 09 came in march 09 i've got 5,563 miles, it still smells new but you will be able to order the 2012 soon. Not what i call new, just me though.

I was wondering how did you shift when you say you were getting on her hard. It is an AT, so there is hardly any room for error like MT. For an AT to go out at 7k is very hard to believe.

I am pretty sure Z eliminator get on his AT hard more than everyone here, and his seems to hold up pretty well.

I have an 7AT, and spirited driving is perfectly fine on mine. There are several unknowns about your situation:

1. Maintenance of car?
2. Aftermarket parts on your car?
3. Is this first time you encountered this?
4. Have you tracked it before?
5. What was the oil pressure during problem?

So, it's bit hard to any of us to give you an educated answer. Your best bet will be discuss it w/your dealer and hope for the best. Tranny will run around $5K, and it does seem very odd to have an 09' Z with 7K on the dial encounter this issue. The automatic from my personal experience and reading magazines are quite bulletproof.

Best of luck
