Question Changing the Battery on Roadster

Short story: Is the dealership the only way to replace the battery in a 2010 370Z Roadster?

Long story: I had noticed that my Viper remote start was not working anymore, so I had the Directed dealer check it out. He tested the battery and said the amperage dropped too low to start her with the remote start, but it was enough for the push button start still. He doesn't sell batteries so he told me to get it replaced and the Viper will work fine. Called AAA and they came out and checked my battery and its ready to be replaced, only pumping out 428a instead of the 550a it should. But they would not replace it because of too much liability with convertibles. Called Walmart s i read on here that their Everstart Maxx battery is a good deal, and they wont replace it either. Both said Dealer only. Is that true? Is the dealership the only way to replace the battery in a 2010 370Z Roadster?

This is the first I've ever heard of such a thing.

I personally don't see an issue

If you can do it yourself just make sure the top is up when you do it

And as an option you can do it while it's running, Just be careful the pos. doesn't touch metal or will call you sparky

Do you need to remove the bar above the battery at all? Or does it slide around that?

I went ahead and did it. So far no problems at all.
