Exclamation Issues Starting 370z Touring After Sitting for 4 months

Car is a Nissan 370z 2012 Touring pkg
So I had my 370 sitting in the park for several months, upon returning to it, it's having issues starting. Initially this happened once before when I let it sit for some time, leading to a battery change. So I went & did the same again(battery was definitely dead, note that I always had Nissan change it before) from auto-zone here in CA.

To my surprise, power went on in the vehicle but getting the engine to start was a no-go.
The car is currently trying to start, sounds like it is turning over...
I'll post a video later today to give a better idea.

Any point in the right direction or leads I can follow would be great, I'd rather try to handle this fix myself as opposed to sending the car into a garage.

Thanks for any help guys

Get an OBD tool and see if any DTCs have been thrown. Post any DTCs here and someone should be able to point you in the right direction.

Sounds like you need to either disconnect the battery of get a battery tender aka trickle charger.

Most cars normally have some battery draw while sitting for long periods.

So unless you have aftermarket electronics like an alarm/stereo system?

I don't see problem.

Thanks guys, will go get an OBD tool in a few. Not sure if it's aftermarket but the car does have a bose sound system that I've been questioning if was stock.

As per Trips, you need to put a trickle charger on the battery during extended storage (or disconnect the battery). The ECM draws some power to keep its memory refreshed and will eventually drain the battery. IIRC, the radio also draws some current to maintain the presets.
If you weren't maintaining the battery charge, that's probably your problem. There is a good chance that you have ruined the battery.

If you disconnect the battery, the engine will run rough for a while until the ECM relearns engine params. And you'll have to reprogram radio presets. And you won't be able to pass an emissions test until you go through several drive cycles.

If you read your owners manual/FSM, there's a fuse/connection/whatever in the driver footwell fusebox that you pull/push if the Z will be in storage for an extended period of time.

Sounds like the OP will have to take the car apart piece by piece and diagnose each part

+1 Sounds like your battery may need to be replaced. The OP should invest in a battery tender they are well worth it.
