2010 370Z Roadster

Redefining wind-in-your-face driving

Since its introduction at the beginning of the year, the next-generation 370Z Coupe has been earning rave reviews. Now it’s 370Z Roadster’s turn.

The seductively styled 370Z Roadster delivers classic

open-air sports car driving excitement.

Nissan redefines classic, wide-open sports car style with the next-generation Z Roadster.

“The new 370Z Roadster offers more refinement, quality, performance, and sheer driving pleasure than any Z convertible that has come before — while retaining its great value positioning in the sports car segment,” says Christian Meunier, vice president, Nissan Marketing, Nissan North America.

The all-new 2010 370Z Roadster shares the same platform and drivetrain as 370Z Coupe. That means the Roadster now has the larger, more powerful 332-hp 3.7-liter VQ V6 engine with VVEL technology and a choice of two transmissions: a 7-speed automatic with paddle shifters and Downshift Rev Matching or a close-ratio 6-speed manual available with Nissan’s world-first SynchroRev Match.

Other shared performance features include the next-generation Front Midship (FM) platform, independent double-wishbone front suspension, and available Nissan Sport Brakes.

The Convertible Experience

But Z Roadster adds the exhilaration of top-down motoring to the mix. It boasts several unique features that will capture the imagination of soft-top buyers, most notably its all-new power auto-latching cloth top.

Available heated and cooled seats provide

top-down comfort in any weather.

Pressing and holding a button on the center console raises and lowers the top in about 20 seconds. When the top closes, it latches automatically. An LCD in the instrument cluster displays the status of the top and tells you when it is completely lowered or raised. What’s more, you can operate the top when the vehicle is moving at very slow speeds — up to 3 mph.

You can also lower the top from outside the vehicle as long as the Intelligent Key — which is now standard on Z Roadster — is in range. All you do is press and hold the button on either door handle.

Z Roadster’s new cloth top has a high-quality padded headliner that helps reduce noise inside the cabin — an advantage that not only creates a more comfortable ride, but also allows the use of the available Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System.

Pressing and holding a button on the center console raises and lowers the top in about

20 seconds.

The tempered-glass panel between the seats helps reduce wind noise and turbulence when the top is down, and the lightweight hard tonneau cover operates automatically to fully conceal the folded cloth top — unlike some competitors.

What if you’re driving with the top down in very cool or very hot weather? Z Roadster has that covered too. 370Z Touring has standard heated and cooled seats with small in-seat Thermal Electric Devices (TEDs). A soft net fabric in the center of the seat allows air from ducts to circulate around your entire body. Switches on the center console allow the driver and passenger to choose their own comfort level.

A Style of Its Own

Like the Coupe, Z Roadster has a seductive new look, with sculpted headlights and taillights, wide stance, flared wheel wells, and an aerodynamic, rounded rear deck. The smooth lines enhance aerodynamics, a shorter wheelbase and overall length give it a balanced profile, and the integrated dual exhaust outlets hint at the power that lurks under the hood.

The shape of the tonneau cover creates an

aggressive double-cockpit look.

The family resemblance continues inside, with the driver-oriented cockpit, large instrumentation displays, three-pod center dash gauges, and interior storage spaces.

Yet this new-generation Roadster has a style of its own. It has a smooth, coupe-like profile with the top up and an aggressive double-cockpit look when the top is down, thanks to the contouring of the full body-color hard tonneau cover.

Because the power auto-latching cloth top works hydraulically, the operating components are smaller and are located strategically so they don’t take up as much trunk space as the previous generation. Also, there is no space-robbing spare tire; instead there’s a tire repair kit that includes sealant and a pump for repairing flat tires. (A spare tire remains as standard equipment in Maryland and optional in other states.)

Advanced Features

All Z Roadsters come with safety features specifically designed for the convertible body style. In addition to the Nissan Advanced Air Bag System and driver and front-passenger seatback-mounted side-impact supplemental air bags, Z Roadster adds door-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental air bags that help reduce the risk of head injury to front-seat occupants. Roll bars behind the seats help provide protection in the event of a roll-over. In addition, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) is now standard on all Z Roadsters.

Z Roadster adds door-mounted curtain

side-impact supplemental air bags.

The 370Z Touring Roadster is available with the next-generation Nissan Hard Drive Navigation System, which adds new features including a 7-inch high-resolution touch-screen color monitor, real-time traffic reports, real-time weather reports, a 9.3GB Music Box, a USB port to connect an iPod® or other portable device, streaming audio via Bluetooth®, DVD playback, and an expanded point-of-interest (POI) database that even includes the Zagat® restaurant guide.

Z Roadster audio systems are also upgraded for 2010. The base system has a larger dot matrix display that makes it easier to display audio information, and the Bose® audio system in Touring models now has 8 speakers (instead of 7), including two woofers.

For complete information on all the new features, see 2010 370Z Roadster under the Vehicles & Competitors tab.

Emotional Purchase

Roadster customers are going to love all the new performance, comfort, and convenience technologies that become available for the 2010 model year. But remember, buying a roadster is an emotional purchase. Make sure you’re prepared to thrill them with Z Roadster’s wind-in-your-face styling, performance, and attitude.
