I find this hard to believe that they are sending it outside the dealership. My SM was quite clear that Nissan would not send mine out. The new top was shipped in from Montreal and one of their techs did the replacement. I spoke with the tech afterwards and he said it was the first top he had ever replaced on a 370Z if not the first for a Z. Maybe Nissan does it different here in the great white north.

I got my car back this morning. Faster than I expected and everything looks perfect. I have to wait 7 days before putting the top down to give it time to stretch and settle on the frame. I won't know until then if the movement is right but given the look of the top I expect everything to be fine.

Now I just need to try and prevent the rubbing above the drivers side window from happening again.

Glad to hear it went ok. The rubbing you speak of is in a TSB that requires one or both windows to be adjusted after the top is installed. Didn't your dealer make the adjustment?

Mine was a different issue. The top was rubbing on a bundle of wires when the top was raised or lowered. See post #82 on page 6 in the thread below for some pictures taken by Merlin when he had the same issue.

My top was replaced under warranty last fall. It had a hole worn in the passenger side. My concern is that the same thing will occur. Took it in for oil change and they sent it out for possible adjustment of the frame that supports the cloth top. Hope it gets resolved as the warranty is out in July and to replace it again will be VERY EXPENSIVE!

Why not just go ahead and post the details of your problem? I have a printed copy of the service manual I can thumb through, and some mechanical experience. While I can not say I'll actually be helpful, I'll certainly try.

370 z top wear rubbing issue rear passenger side

I had the entire top of my 2010 z replaced from inside out after months of trying to problem solve by dealer. It seems that it is the frame that is sharp and causes damage to the actual top. Mine was replaced under warranty. Good luck and be persistent!!

I had mine replaced bc of wear and tear on the inside the size of a penny above both driver and passenger head. 1 year latter its doing it again and I've been waiting side the summer for the new one to get in :/

I had mine replaced under the TSB for the window wear. They sent it to a specialty shop in town - did a good job but took 5 days (3 work days plus a weekend). They did give me a rental for the whole period. The TSB also called for a window adjustment to avoid the window wear and after 18 months so far no window wear on the top. I'm using RAGGTOPP on it now, hopefully will help it last longer. Also bought the Nissan Gold extended warranty (8 years, 100,000 miles, $100.00 deductible) which covers the convertible top. Another top replacement during that time will justify the warranty.

had them look at mine due to the auto drop on the passenger side window not dropping enough to clear the top. It actually looks like the weatherstripping at a crease seam is hanging down too low. It is actually hard to open the door.

We'll see...
