5th bow bungee

Anyone have experience with the new 5th bow bungee kits?
I've replaced these on 2 other roadsters.
The new kit is unlike the old and is the only one you can purchase fro Nissan now. Part # 971F61ET0C
Nissan provides no instruction how to retrofit this new bungee
Anyone have a 2018 or up FSM that could take a look and see if the new procedure is in it.
I'm getting no assistance from Nissan.
I'll try to post a pic. Old bungee on right, new on left.
Thanks

Sorry I have no helpful information, but I had mine replaced last month...does that mean I got the new one? The tonneau still hits the rubber molding on the bottom of the roof..

Unless a dealership has an old version laying on the shelf youll get the new version. It should have fixed yours?? The 2 Ive did previously fixed the problem with hitting the cover and the loud snap when closing the top

Well, it did fix that problem...it is a soft hit on the rubber only now.

Wouldn't you know after begrudgingly paying the stealership to fix the bungees on the last roadster I repaired I found myself in the same boat on my latest. Luckily found this on Youtube. Details the installation of the new style bungees. Hope this helps others who run into the not direct replacements.

Well done Blake, thanks for the info and the you tube link-very handing indeed. Will see if I can track down those new bungees in Oz as my lid does annoyingly strike 5th bow.

Great that you can get replacement from Nissan.
Common problem with a lot of small convertibles.Same problem I had on my Spider.I made my own flat bungees to work.Part was unavailable.

see the new thread. nissan stopped using the temporary fix - bungee cords, and instead started working on a true fix. They say the fix should be ready in 2 to 3 months (approx. July 2019). I talked to nissan corporate and they're asking everyone with this problem to call in and open a case

Hey it only took them ten model years to come up with a fix.
Good thing they had nothing to do with the moon missions

Any idea what a true fix would be?

Hi All,

I just contacted Nissan here in Australia to order my bungee kit as the lid hitting is starting to annoy me now. I quoted p/no 971F6-1ET0C and they said cost about $230 which is about right here for Australia based on the US price.
Interestingly he said that part has just been superseded and new part no is 971F61ET2A and will cost $530. Has anybody heard of this part number? I asked for more info about it but parts man had no idea as no one as ordered one yet through his dealership, which is not surprising here in Newcastle (2hr north of Sydney).

Could it be a new improved bungee, I'm hoping but

Would be cool if you could take a photo of this new part number.
Let's see what has been improved.
