My auto does shift faster depending on throttle. Drive it easy and shifts normal but due to all the changes it shifts faster with more input. I too loved the s-tronic but I was really surprised in manual mode the firmness and quickness of the shifts. You will laugh at how big a difference it makes with the auto trans. You can even use the manual model for the auto for even more aggressive action. The car drives just as easy, no twitchy at all, just all so freaking much better. I've been leaving it in green mode and loving every minute! Your Z is probably 1000lbs lighter than the TT. Crazy what losing weight does. My A4 was also 1k heavier than the A3, hated the heavy quattro feeling.

Use the manual mode for the auto mode? I'm not really sure what that means. Do you mean just clicking the paddles while it's in Auto? I LOVE that feature. The Auto tranny with paddle shift in this car was a huge selling point for me. I've been driving manuals for years and thought I would never get an auto but I moved to the Bay area and traffic sucks so I decided my next car needed to have the option for auto or manual. I was looking at the BMW and Porsche PDK but didn't realize just how good the true manual of the Z was until I test drove it. I honestly can't imagine passing it up for the manual, it really is the best of both worlds. My 2001 Acura CL Type S had the manumatic too, but it was sllllooooooooow as hell (like every other true auto I've driven). I never used it because it was so slow. The Z is lightening quick on downshifts and the upshifts are very good, almost dual clutch good, but sometimes for whatever reason they're slower. I think it depends on throttle input.

I got my Sprint Booster today and installed it 2 hours ago. WOW! You were so right! The difference is immense. I agree that red is too aggressive, it feels like it's on boil at all times. I really, really like the green though. It feels exactly like I expected the car to feel from the factory and THE MANUAL SHIFTS ARE WAY FASTER. That's exactly what I was hoping for! No more delay in the throttle and faster shift. It is just awesome.

Thanks for your responses on this! The car is damn near perfect now. That delay and occasional slow(ish) upshifts were a little annoying, although honestly, not bad. But wow, now they're fixed. I've never driven a car with a tranny I like better than this one now.

Lots of good information in here. This thing sounds great!

Are there any negative consequences or side effects to be worried about? Will it cause problems later on down the road?

bhandy 09-27-2015 08:21 PM

My dad in his 2014 Stingray Corvette came to see me Saturday and loved my car. I've left booster in green mode but enjoy the red sometimes. Anyways he was blown away at how responsive and fast my car was. When driving his in his sport mode was fun but our cars are more than capable in comparison. He loved how quick the Z jumped and opened up. I guess a positive compliment coming from a vette owner.

Edit:
Okay so here's a quick guide of installing the Sprint Booster on my 370Z:
Step 1: Leave your door open a few minutes prior to working. I was told doing this will ensure you don't trigger a check engine light after you remove the throttle cable from the pedal. I did this and did not have any CEL

Step 1b: Remove the plastic cover at the base of the gas pedal exposing two 10mm bolts securing the pedal to the floorboard. I used a small flat head to pry the plastic cover out. Once the two bolts are removed, hold at the base and push the whole pedal assembly inward and slides up to lift the pedal assembly out.

Step 2: Carefully unlatch the throttle cable from the pedal.
http://www.the370z.com/members/zbrah...88747t-sb2.jpg
Step 3: Throttle cable removed from pedal. Becareful not to pull on these wires.
http://www.the370z.com/members/zbrah...88748t-sb3.jpg
Step 4: Install the Sprint Booster unit on top of the pedal assembly. It only goes in one way. And make sure it is latched tight. Notice my switch is already connected to the Sprint Booster.
http://www.the370z.com/members/zbrah...88749t-sb4.jpg
Step 5: Throttle cable is latched to the Sprint Booster unit. Again, make sure you have a tight connection here.
http://www.the370z.com/members/zbrah...88750t-sb5.jpg
Step 6: I routed the switch behind the carpet and up through the steering column. Used a small piece of 3M double sided tape and placed the switch here for easy access, you can place it anywhere you want.

Also, I watched this video beforehand to get an idea of the install. There are some differences but the steps should be the same.

Brief review after a short drive:
I went straight to Red mode and I was very surprised how quickly the RPM jumped through the gears. It was an immediate throttle response. The car felt so much lighter and more responsive than it ever had. Coming out of a complete stop, I no longer feel like the car is bogged down and trying to get up to speed. Rowing through the gears also felt much smoother. Over all, this one simple gadget gave me an enjoyable feeling that no other mod I have done could match (intake, exhaust, tp). It really made the car comes alive! I am stoke for the drive to work tomorrow morning. I can't wait!

Is there any way to make these pictures bigger? They're tiny!

Good call! Much easier to figure out the install when I can see the pics. The whole install looks super easy!

Is it any more 'difficult' to drive on a daily basis on aggressive mode?

Once you get used to the increased sensitivity I am pretty sure it will be fine.I drove around this evening with it set to red led on and had no issues .I routed the switch so I can switch fairly easy between the different modes.

Best $300 you ever spent on your Z, I promise you. You're going to wonder why you didn't get it sooner.

TexasChuck 10-09-2015 04:43 PM

Thanks!

I just hope it's delivered when my wife is at work. I've always hated that lag. Even took the car back to the dealer about it.
"Sprint Booster" has a 30 satisfaction guarantee, and the three year warranty.
Cheers

Luck?

Just my luck! Back ordered for 3 weeks.

Auto or manual?

Auto

Does it work better on the auto or manual?

TexasChuck 10-12-2015 11:56 AM

Auto or Manual

Bodyman, there are two units for the newer Zs. One for auto , one for manual. You choose the one for your car when you order.
Best ,
TxCh
As for "work better?" I have no idea. I only know what I've read here.

TexasChuck 10-17-2015 10:41 AM

Booster Installed

I received the sprint booster a few days ago. Installation was easy. After driving/testing, there is a difference, but not a significant difference. Sending it back for a refund.

Zbrah 10-17-2015 07:58 PM

Which mode did you have it set on? Even on conservative (green) my car accelerates much quicker than stock. When on red the damn thing just pulls. But I have a manual.

cooldwt 10-17-2015 10:02 PM

Leave it off for awhile and come back to it . I just got back from an extended stay and was amazed how it responded .

Going again

I'm going back out again this am, and take a longer drive. On my first drive I did try all modes , accelerating from 55-60 mph. I'm thinking the Booster is more for accelerating from slower speeds??
Thx

TexasChuck 10-18-2015 09:45 AM

Sunday AM Drive

Just returned from a spirited drive around the area. Mostly industrial area, where the traffic was almost zilch. I got a much better feel for tha Sprint Booster now. It does add a lot of fun factor to this kind of driving, verses hiway. Guess I'll keep it, cause "fun" is what these cars are for. Thanks

dvboy 10-18-2015 11:01 AM

These things must do more than just simply eliminate the lag of the throttle.I assume that on a stock pedal for example if you give it 50% this device will tell the ECU you are at 75% or something to create this whole effect. If this is the case,it's something that does not interest me.

TexasChuck 10-18-2015 11:40 AM

You are pretty much correct, according to other forums (corvette) I have read. I am not an expert. It does change the electric impulses to the ECU and is much more noticeable at slower speeds. " Eliminate " lag it does not , at highway speeds.

zmanelite 10-18-2015 11:52 AM

I drive mine in green , red was a little bit to abrupt and with a supercharger I would light up the tires to easy

TexasChuck 10-18-2015 12:12 PM

Good Thing...

Good thing is , you can turn it off and use a normal amount of fuel.

bhandy 10-18-2015 03:42 PM

I always tell someone when questioning the difference, turning it off really shows how well it works and the difference is most obvious. Green for me, red is that nice feeling of knowing it gets even better. Auto trans love this and if you want more aggressive for the auto, get the one for the manual. For me with my auto, holy crap who wants more??? I do see the need for more intake and I want an oil cooler. I'm just driving it more and more to get to my first oil change, 5K miles so I can have them put on the chin spoiler under the nose.

I installed a SB on my 2015 manual. Red mode is a bit much but is still fun. Green is perfect. Going back to stock is interesting after using the SB. Takes a bit to get familiar with the clutch play but overall I'm keeping it.

3Aims 10-19-2015 06:21 PM

One thing I do like is the long cord for the button control. Mine is routed under the carpet and peeks out on the front left side of my mat. I can reach it and see the light easy when driving.

bhandy 10-20-2015 03:34 PM

A cool area is that small spot to the right of the dash by the steering column. It's perfect for hiding it but ease of getting to. It's kind of a ledge but perfect spot too.

Is yours an auto or manual? How do you like it so far? Any tips on installing this?

SwissCheese 12-09-2015 09:15 PM

I meant to bump this thread yesterday, but completely forgot.

Now that some time has passed, how is everybody's SB holding up?
