OK let's to do the math. Let's say your insurance is just 500 per year. A fill up of gas is approx 60 bucks. So in essence you do approx 1500 miles per year. Fairy enough. Still LOL.

if $60 for fill was for 20gallons that would give me about 380-400miles.
i spend about $35? on oil and filter per year so $465 remaining

465/60 = 7.75 fills x 390 miles = 3023miles

thats about how much i put on the car ever year.
my 09 has less than 15k miles and i am the original owner.

tires every 2-3 years?!

do you even drive bro?

i might go through 2 sets this summer lol :bowrofl:

i will add one thing to this and this isnt directed at anyone just making a point lol

if you buy a slightly expensive sports car like a Z please dont nickle and dime the parts you buy to maintain it. if you cant put the right stuff into it then dont buy the car lol

i love seeing 370's with tire brands i never even heard nor can pronounce. yea they were only $50 a tire but when they explode and you total the Z i'm sure it'll be worth it.

dont endanger others because you're cheap/broke

:shakes head:

anyways to contribute in a positive way to this thread.....

$1500 for my tires in spring. spare rears for end of summer when mine are bald are like another 400ish but i have 3 back up sets now.

$100-ish on a redline oil change kit from Z1 with extra Qt and also injector cleaner additive.

gas - i fill up anytime i get near a 1/4 tank. never goes below unless dire situation. 3/4 fill up of 93 octane is typically $50-60 on avg depending on current price per gallon. (right now it's $4.07/gallon now)

this year i did my diff fluid change since i finally cracked 30k miles after 3 summers of driving (never waiting that long again. it was just gross looking and 15k is my new mark.) i think the cost was like $30? cant remember what the fluid was exactly.

still on OEM brake pads/rotors wiht plenty of meat. however as a precaution i have a new set of pads ready to go on the shelf. they ran me about $150 i believe.

stay loyal to the Z......drive it more lol

i only drive my car 7 months out of the year and i've avg'd just over 10k a year on it so far :ugh2:

just passed my 3 year anniverary with the Z actually.

sadly i remember that but i dont think i've ever remembered a relationship anniversary ever lol :bowrofl:

Well, so far this year I have 25K in it. :P 17K for buying it and the rest is getting it up to date and working on suspension, stereo etc. If I had it I would spend another 20k on hardening the motor and a twin turbo with supporting mods trans rear end etc.

As mentioned, it really depends on how much you drive. My car is seasonal and I really dont get to drive it much. (2010 with 10,800 miles). So for me, insurance is about $75 a month and I get away with an oil change maybe twice that season... Very cheap.

enkei2k 06-20-2014 04:11 PM

$5600/ year in payments
$500/ year in gas
$2100/ year in insurance
$37/ year in inspection
$75/ year in registration
$xxx/ year in mods, maintenance items, air fresheners, cleaning supplies, + misc.

thanks for reminding me how much of a money pit this car is.

Car replacement, unisured and underinsured coverage is included plus a $250 deductible for collision and comprehensive. I do have 3 cars in my policy with 2 drivers (wife & I) though, probably helps. The Z is the most expensive and sportiest car out of the 3 but is the least expensive to insure. The other two run me about $50-$55 each, higher for the year.

Wow, either Hawaii has GREAT insurance rates or my insurer is taking me for a ride...on my new ride!

Shadezz 06-21-2014 08:49 AM

**** I've put 130 tanks in since May 2012...= $8450..just in gas thus past 2 years..

ZKraken22 06-21-2014 09:37 AM

I'm sitting at 400 bucks in maintenance today. Couple oil changes, battery, and transmission flush.

zefaulter 06-21-2014 09:54 AM

I've owned mine since January last year. To date, I have spent $35k on payments, maintenance, gas, mods. This doesn't include insurance which is a killer in Ontario (Canada)

Current insurer is Allstate, switched 4 years ago. Bundled my home owners with the 3 cars and saved about $1k a year from my prior auto insurer (just on the car portion, home owners cost was the same). I used to stay away from them before, as they were very expensive. But for some reason their rates were the best and they have not increased the rates on me since then.

wolfesquire 06-22-2014 12:04 PM

Monthly charges:
$350- car payment
$110- insurance (I'm 25 years old)
$150- gas
$250- "fun stuff" (rough estimate, probably a lot more)

so $900 +/- a month or $11,000/yearly

falconfixer 06-22-2014 01:21 PM

Seriously...if one has to ask how much it costs to own/maintain/have fun in a Z then this is probably not the car for you.
