It helps make up for the schmucks who have a ton of wrecks and pay too little. Right now, $1100 every 6 months for my 2002 G20 and my 2011 Z06. 25/Male/Single/Louisiana. Full coverage on the Z, liability on the G20. Right now I have no substantial liquid assets to sue for, and I have great health insurance, so my limits are not sky-high.
