I agree with coverage/deductibles being the biggest factor in your insurance premium, but the weight of each factor is going to depend on the insured person.

For me and Progressive, getting married is the biggest reduction in premium. I can move up to a big V8, or down to a 3 door/4 cylinder hybrid, and my premium changes very little. Getting married cuts it almost 40%!

I was just recommended by my dealer to get a quote from Wawanesa. I'll wait and see what it is until I pull the trigger on the Z. Anything under $200 seems f'ing amazing to me.

Wow, that's pretty good. I was quoted $880 a year, but I'm 36, no accidents or tickets in recent history and live in a low cost area. I'm presently paying $300/year for my VW.

Something for everyone to keep in mind, much like car buying, you can negotiate rates on insurance. If you find cheaper rates talk your present insurance agent and see if they can match or beat the rates. And take your lowest quote and show it to other companies to see if they can beat it. I was surprised at the rates I was offered when I started shopping around.

FYI, Nissan has roadside assistance as part of their factory warranty. :)

hell yeah

When I got my 97 240SX back in '01 (I was 19) I was paying $240/mo for the car, and $340/mo for my insurance. I can't remember if I was using Geico or Progressive at the time. Needless to say, recockulous.

I am single, 31 years old, and pay $1300 a year through Farmer's for full coverage. I use my mom's policy b/c it saves me about $400 a year.

Like someone said earlier, your credit rating and driving record are the two biggest factors. I work for a State Farm agent in TX and part of what I do is crank out auto quotes half the time. Also, guys pay more for insurance than do women and our rates will not go down until we hit 25. The county/area in which you live is also a big factor. It's one of the first things we enter in the quote. You can also lower your premium by taking defensive driving or driver's training courses, i.e. driver's ed. I'm 26 with decent credit and driving a 2000 camaro z28, paying 126/month with state farm. PM me if you wanna quote to see about what you should really be paying. You can also go online to to get quotes from all of the major companies out there.

470 something for 6months. Quite higher than my G. :(

I think the 350Z folks did this to us. ;)

My car is under the leisure car coverage since I only drive on the weekends.

You can't negotiate rates. If you go to your agent and they get you a lower rate it is because they either "found" more discounts to apply to your policy, reduced your coverage, or rewrote you into another company with a lower rate level.

Also realize, the agent is paid by commission that is usually 10% to 15% of your premium. It is not in their best interest for everyone to get lower rates.

Geico also gives discounts due to memberships to organizations that you aren't part of.

When I pointed it out, they "adjusted" my rate, to where it was only $2/mo less than what I was going to be paying with my previous insurance carrier.

I cancelled the policy and switched back the same day it took effect...
